We have about the same problem here. We have two male cats (unfixed) and one she cat (fixed). And there are two or three male cats always being around our house, frightening our young males and really badly hurting them sometimes. We tried to chase them away, but they always come back, however badly we treat them.
On the other hand, as we live more in the countryside people are used to and accept that cats run freely around. So we may have to accept it. In a city it would of course be different. Also, we don't know what our cats are doing when they are away, may be some people hate them too? We don't know, But here around people tend to be more tolerant and let cats have the life they want in their own cat world, and that world is sometimes a bit tough, yes really, I wouldn't like to be a cat when I see what fights they have.

Keep your cats inside, if you are not already doing it. You can bury mothballs in and around the areas the cat comes over to. Is your neighbor's cat neutered? Unneutered males are very territorial and will roam despite your best intentions.
Perhaps if the cat is not neutered you can help your neighbor by locating low-cost neuter clinics. That would be a big step in the right direction.
Please remember, it is not the cat's fault. He is only doing what mother nature tells him to do. It is your neighbor's fault.
Good luck!

Call Animal Control and they can issue a warning to the neighbors. Cats don't have a leash law in most states, but there is a nuisance law that can be enforced by the AC. They could get fined if they don't do something about that cat.

Animal Control is one solution for you, but we have no such thing in Australia.
I had a similar problem with a neighbouring cat, who tended to terrorize. I found the garden hose didn't work very well because, although he ran away at the time, he always came back. However, most cats absolutely hate the smell of lemon. So I mixed a bucket of water with concentrated lemon juice and threw the mixture at him. It took three tries, but he finally stayed away. Obviously, they also hate the taste of lemon, especially when they have to clean it off their coats.

Well, my friend says to plant onions. That wont work. You might have to call the animal control. If things get that bad. Keep your cats inside for a lil bit. Maybe try to set it back in ur neighbors yard and tap it on the nose. THEN RUN.

Definitely get in touch with animal control. They will likely give your neighbor a warning and explain that they will come back and remove the cat, if they get another call. Best of luck with this situation.

You're probably not willing to get a dog but our dog chases away any cat that comes near our property yet....leaves our kitties alone....it's a thought. My first idea was the garden hose which you have done. I wouldn't sprinkle him lightly though.

go to animal control and see if you cant rent a live trap you might have to keep your cats in the house so you don't trap them. put some food in the trap. when you catch him take the trap and all back to the animal control.

I think you should go have a talk with your neighbors and bring your parents along with you, because you never know what will happen! Just explain to them what has happened and maybe there could be a solution!
