Simply put, a lucid dream is one where you know you're having a dream, yet it seems like you're awake and more aware of what is going on around you. In a lucid dream, you control more of what goes on around you. Imagine it as a TV show and you're the director.

A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that they are dreaming while the dream is in progress. In lucid dreams, it is often possible to exert conscious control over the dream characters and environment, as well as to perform otherwise physically impossible feats.
A lucid dream can begin in one of two ways. A dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD)[1] starts as a normal dream, and the dreamer eventually logically concludes that they are dreaming. A wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD),[2] which is sometimes considered more difficult to achieve, occurs when the dreamer goes from a normal waking state directly into a dream state with no lapse in consciousness.
Lucid dreaming has been researched scientifically, and its existence is well established.[3][4] Researchers such as Allan Hobson with his neurophysiological approach to dreaming have helped to push the understanding of lucid dreaming into a less speculative realm.

A lucid dream is a dream where you seem to be awake, or conscious during the dream, enabling you to have some free will as to what you do in the dream. It can also be described as being in a dream, and knowing that it is a dream that your in. There are several very good books that go in depth about it, and can teach you techniques to induce lucid dreams. Just google it.

A lucid dream is when you are aware you are dreaming while you are dreaming.
With practice you are able to control the dream and/or change the dream.
Simply you are in control of what you dream.

A lucid dream is one that you remember and can control. You also know that you are controlling the dream.

It's one in which everything is extremely clear and seems to make sense. Not one in which things are foggy, hazy or confusing. And you are AWARE that you are dreaming while it's happening. Sometimes you can "direct" the dream, as if it were a movie or a play, and you can make things happen.

It's when you know that you are dreaming and therefore can control what happens in it.
