How much do you want to bet that about 11.99999Million of the illegals in this country make under the poverty level....if they become Americans in one swoop of the wand, we will end up GIVING them money every year they file for taxes. If you make little money, you get an IRS refund for MORE than you paid. That is the way the government "balances" the system. So, if you pay $5,000 a year in taxes and you live next to a single parent who barely makes ends meet and has two kids....guess where your money is going....next door....I don't think this country ON TOP OF what they cost us daily now (which won't change AFTER they become legal) we will give them money in April, every year...

Here's why Americans have had enough:

Noone believes that the government will stop the illegal flow after they grant rights to illegals. We want the law enforced and THEN we'll talk.

Immigration (even legal) has gotten out of control. We are WAY WAY WAY above the levels we historically allowed during our nation's history.

America is now a welfare state. You can't have a welfare state with open borders. You will simply go bankrupt. This is already happening by the way.

Combine this with outsourcing, offshoring, H1B skilled workers, H1A guest workers, illegal "slave labor", dying industries and towns from naive globalism and bad trade policy, consolidation of industries due to merger and acquistions, and you will see why voting Americans have had enough. Our wages have been flat for years while housing, education, taxes, healthcare, food, and energy costs have gone thru the roof. Our birthrates are down in part because people CANNOT raise families anymore.

We cannot absorb the worlds poor. Something like 95% of the world's population is poorer than Mexico.

Our government has told us for YEARS that high school dropouts cost the country way more money than they bring into the country.

It's our country. We want it to resemble the country we knew in our youth. We don't mind immigrants but every time I go to the store, I am the only native-English speaking person around. I feel like I am traveling in Mexico or the U.N building. This is too much.

Lastly, homeland security concerns after 9/11.

That's a sucker bet and I wouldn't take it. I've often thought that America would be better off if illegals were met at the border by someone who would write down their names and South American addresses and our government just sent them a check every month for 5 - 6 hundred dollars. (to their South American address). That way, they'd at least have to go home once a month. Or, hell, pay them weekly then they'd be so busy going back and forth they might not have time to wave their meaningless flags in our faces.

Where do federal tax funds go? Not to the federal govt. The (private) IRS collects for the (private) Federal Reserve System and they decide who gets the billion$. When the feds need more funds for their deficit spending, they sell bonds to the FRS and the FRS has the Treasury Dept. print the paper currency, which the FRS uses to "buy" the bonds, whilst charging the govt interest on their funny-money.

The federal govt. does not need tax funds, for their operation. If everyone stopped paying the IRS, the govt would still go on (unfortunately). But of course, the IRS isn't going to allow that--they have an illegal extortion racket going--most of us are not even liable for federal taxes.

So, no. The addition of tens of millions of what are actually a source of cheap labor for big business, isn't going to benefit the nation. Besides, many of the illegal aliens are criminals, so they certainly aren't welcome. Actually, they all are criminals, as illegals, but I mean those who are stealing, raping, murdering...

This was one reason I was against Gov. Arnold giving CA driver licenses to illegals.

he felt that it would comple them to get insurance.

Oh, really?

When we can't get corporations to pay taxes, you really think the "new citizens" will?

You're ill-informed. No one is talking about making them CITIZENS overnight, merely starting a process that will be cumbersome and take YEARS. It merely erases their illegal alien status overnight, making them legal aliens, but still alien.
