I would think that anyone who has ever created anything has to have inspiration from something else whether subconsciously or not? If nothing came or went before god then how did he do it?

"from something else" means before and before that, there is no end. which is certainly not correct. anything which did not exist has a starting point. God is beyond time and space. God created everything which did not exist, He is all knowing, all powerfull.
