the parents are correct, it is better for the child to get them at a young age. Believe it or not i didnt get them until i was 16, and i became severely ill as a result.

If your daughter has already already broken out and they are starting to scab already, she is no longer contagious, or if she is, its very minimal. You carry the virus for weeks before you break out, the break out stage is the end of the cycle.

Call your pediatrician and ask this - I would bet money they suggest that the baby should go to a different sitter for the 3 weeks your daughter has chicken pox.

AND - insist that the baby is watched carefully. Insist that her pediatrician checks her out now because she could be incubating the chicken pox as it is, since she was near your daughter while she was incubating the virus.

Very young (8 weeks) babies contracting serious illnesses (chicken pox) can be really really risky. Better check things out now rather than risk being tragically sorry later.

It would probably be for the best to babysit, I know that there are shots given to prevent chicken pox now days, but back when I was a kid there wasn't any prevention shots. Myself, and my sister were school age and had chicken pox and then our little cousin who was about 6 months lived with us and got them too, the syptoms for the baby were the mildest and as long as we put on mittens so she could not scratch herself she was fine.

although exposing a child to chicken pox is not a totally bad idea
2 months old is risky to take a chance of complications as the immune system may not be able to handle it

When my daughter was 2yrs old she got the chicken pox. I took her to the doctor cause my son was only 6 months old and I wanted to know if it would be dangerous for him to get them and they said it was better for him to get them when he was younger. The older you are the worse they are to have.

It is better to have them younger. Also if you already know your daughter has chicken pox, she is probably not contagious anymore. It is during the fever that it is spred, not the sores.
