My grandfather was in the Army during WWII, but he died when I was real young. I was trying to find out a little about him, like where he fought and I don't nkow where to look.

This has info about service dates, decorations(medals,awards), place of military entrance and discharge date and reason. If I am not mistaken you can see what battles he fought in.

the records NARA has is constrained to the unit he replaced into in. which would be on his Separation...it somewhat is no longer a DD214 yet has a similar information. Have my Dads is a DD 250 some thing. Marines documents are intact and did no longer wander off interior the enormous 1973 hearth. Letters with return handle are good to. as quickly as you have a unit and the dates he replaced into with them you are able to then seem up the battles they have been in touch in. Campaigns and battles would be listed, Medals and awards, dates he moved from mainland to Theater and back on WDAGO sort fifty 3-fifty six. Dads has his discharge on the back of that. What he did and the dates he did that activity are listed on a W.D.A.G.O. sort a hundred. NARA-national records.

If you have all his information social, date of birth, etc... you can contact the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Regional Office and they can get you copies of his military records, awards, etc...
