Why are some atheists so quick to defend Islam? Is it because you have been brainwashed by this idea of "multiculturalism" and political correctness? Why do you feel that you can criticize Christianity openly but you defend Islam? Afterall, they both claim to be Abrahamic religions. How many more times do Muslims have to state that they will kill or convert all infidels? Do Muslims seem so tactful to you when they say that their goal is to dominate the world? Or did they really not mean that... was it just the "few" extremists? Do you automatically just believe in the opposite of whatever the media tells you... ? Oh, they say Muslims are terrorists, so they must be peaceloving. Christians say Muslims are evil, so they must be friendly and tolerant of atheists. I just DON'T get it.

First, I was disillusioned with religions... now I am starting to become disillusioned with atheists.

PS: I am not a Christian. I would consider myself to be "agnostic" if I had to label myself. I usually think that atheists are quite sensible but often they are very silly.

I am not quick to defend any religion.

I think you will find that Atheists defending Islam are really pointing out the fallacy of a loving Christian religion.

Christians are meant to turn the other cheek and accept what ever is coming to them peacefully. Yet you hear them pounding their chests and yelling about Muslims, Gays, Teen Mothers, Atheists, etc.

Atheists don't usually defend any belief in God, but are quick to point out heresy in religion.

Islam is very dangerous, but so is Christianity. Just ask the Muslims living in Bosnia who had entire families eradicated in the name of Christianity.

I don't want an earth with any religious rule, whether it is Sharia law, Jewish theocrasy, or Christian inquisition. All of them lead to terror. People always say that their religion is really peaceful, and the people doing the damage aren't true Christians, Jews, Muslims.

But if you look at history, at times when religion ruled society, no matter what religion, you will find dark times of torture and death.

Jews just have to read the Old Testament, to see what life under the rule of God was like. Read Numbers 31 and justify killing 30,000 captured boys.

Christians were in charge during the middle ages, and all you have to do is read accounts of the spanish inquisition to see what those times were like. There is a reason they were called the dark ages, the light of Chrisitianity had total control.

Muslims, don't have to go far back at all, just look at the recent Talaban rule in Afghanistan, people are killed and tortured for sport in the name of Allah.

All religions are dangerous, and should be treated with the caution that they have earned.

Be as disillusioned with me as you like then. I'm only ever as much of your perceptions as you project upon me, being, like everything else, empty of inherent existence. If someone's really not causing harm, there's nothing I have to say against them. Muslims have been in this country a lot longer than you give them credit for and if they'd have wanted it under Sharia law, they could've done so a few times over. It's the terrorists who use Islam, incorrectly and due to their OWN causes and conditions, who want to turn everything into Sharia law and their own whacked interpretation of it at that.

I'm more worried about Christian fundamentalism getting it's way here in this country than half of a millisecond that I'd likely NOT be worried over about Muslims in this country.

I don't defend religions either... they're a THING... I defend PEOPLE and their human rights.

Huh?

I'm quite critical of Islam, as are most atheists I've met or talked to.

We tend to dislike Islam for the same reason we dislike Christianity, though we focus more attention on Christianity because it's closer to home and most of us know more about it.

Luckily, I do not think there will be any form of shariah law in the U.S., though the minute there is, I'm moving to Korea or China.

Any atheist acting sympathetic toward Islam is probably just reacting to belligerent Christian rhetoric, which tends to get people killed when enacted as national policy.

I don't know of any atheists who defend Islam. I think you're just lumping in atheists with Muslims like a typical Christian.

And I said "like" a typical Christian. You may not be; but you sound like one. That's their standard tactic, to pretend that all groups that disagree with Christianity must agree with each other.

Why do most atheists on YA complain about Christianity more than Islam? Because most of us live in America, not Afghanistan.

No, it somewhat is Britain and we've regulations that have been created to fulfill a prefer over hundreds of years. it somewhat is a Christian united states of america with christian morals (regardless of the minorities say, & earlier all of us thinks i'm a non secular pillock, i'm in actuality an Athiest pillock) and it is going to stay that way. i can not use uk regulations in Saudi or Libya, or in actuality everywhere else that i understand of. If people prefer Sharia regulation in any sort, then they are able to bypass and stay interior the international places the place it exists as regulation (do no longer concepts the bit approximately reducing off thieves hands regardless of the undeniable fact that, could address our detention center overcrowding subject!).

The Truth, my friend, is that not one of the so called "Abrahamic" religions that you see prevalent is telling you the truth. The Truth is God and what He sent down. God sent down the scriptures of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, David, Mohammad and what was sent down to the Tribes (12 tribes of Israel). The Only Book in its original form is the Quran and it ONLY confirms what came before it and God has put HIS safety on it.

Today, the worst followers of the religion are those that call themselves "Muslims" and then the "Christians" and then the "Jews". There is only one way to the Mercy of God and its through the Book and Wisdom ... which is the Torah, the Bible and the Quran and they can never contradict each other in their original forms. The Quran Confirms what came in the Bible and Torah and makes to separation between the Messengers and Prophets of God.

May god have Mercy on Mankind.

Well in my country it is the Christians, not the Muslims going on about world domination.

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war." - Ann Coulter in a Newspaper Column, September 2001.

Placing his own words in the mouth of God, Robertson wrote in his book "The Secret Kingdom": "It is clear that God is saying, "I gave man dominion over the earth, but he lost it. Now I desire mature sons and daughters who will in My name exercise dominion over the earth and will subdue Satan, the unruly and the rebellious. Take back My world from those who would loot and and abuse it. Rule as I would rule." (Page 201.)

"If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will not only be unpleasant but at times physically bloody...this decade will not be one for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious."- Pat Robertson on the 700 Club.

I'm an atheist and I'm equally disdainful and open to debate ANY religious fanatic regardless of race, color, sex or creed. As far as I'm concerned... and my fellow atheists seem to feel the same way...fundie Islam is just as ridiculous as fundieChristianity and both are equal targets.

I think you're both equally wrong. Just because there are extremists does not make it fair to oppose all muslims. We would oppose any who attempted to enact religious laws upon us. We in America, deal with Christians.

All religions are ancient primitive beliefs dragged kicking and screaming into progressively more and more modern centuries.

It is irrelevant and divisive and will be fought by rational people by whatever means necessary.

I could care less which wacky god or gods you feel the urge to prostrate yourself in front of, but if it affects me in any way, shape or form, I will arm myself to the max to protect myself and my family from it.
