Is there a more pathetic job in the whole wide world then a bathroom attendant? Are we so lazy that we need someone to turn on the water, pour soap in our hands and give us a towel? Then you expect a tip? I didnt ask for this service.

I am with you 100 percent. Just get away from me , I can handle this part myself and in fact I get really uncomfortable with them in there.

it is a hold over from old days
i find it rather intrusive most times, but when you understand its origins it makes perfect sense
And it helps some people feel important...like a doorman and such...
also, if you ever have a particularly SKILLED one, you really have found a gem
I met a lady once at a club...she told me how to get the best drink, where to go next, how to apply my makeup most effectively, how to flirt with certain guys, what pantyhose to buy, how to keep my skirt from riding up (a huge bit of information for us black women), what was the best handsoap (an Italian brand) to help with carpal tunnel, and which valet was best! Everyone loved this woman and she was always right.

Bathroom attendants are an unwanted annoyance. They are another good reason for discouraging the tipping system.

I agree that this isn't a needed or maybe even wanted service, BUT it does create jobs and give people an opporunity to make money istead of begging, leeching or stealing.

I hate them too. They have them in nightclubs to ration out paper towels in the womens room and offer cheap rite aid perfumes.

I always thought the most pathetic and boring job would be being a Toll Booth Collector...just shoot me.
But even that pales in comparison to what has to be the worst job ever...That's the guy who collects the sperm samples used to artificially inseminate livestock. How do they ever eat afterwards?

That would be a sucky job. I mean we all got to make money some how, but ewwww. Imagine having to smell everyones crap. That would so suck.
