been here for some time, it is great, fun, exciting, boring, frustrating, but not dangerous, well, you need to watch out for the cars, they drive a little carzy here, but, as far as guns and stuff it is really safe, the living costs are very low, the pace is a little slower, Sahnghai is fast but still not as fast as New York and Hong Kong

China is an awesome country, full of culture and opportunities. After all, it is likely going to be the next world power. I know some people in my family who have moved to China for a while and have gotten some fascinating job opportunities, although, in life there are never any guarantees.
You just have to consider 3 things: a job/source of income, housing/accomodations, and how you would get along in China. First, you don't necessarily have to speak chinese fluently, even though that would be handy. You could learn a little before you move there, or pick it up while you are living there. I study Chinese and it is a fun language to learn! Just make sure to learn more about China before you make any big decisions.
Here is the site-map for a website that has a lot of helpful information about China, I strongly suggest you take a look: http://www.china.org.cn/english/SiteMap/186692.htm

It is always a good idea to move to China. There are endless opportunities. It's an adventure. The food is great. There's lots to do. There's lots to see. It's very affordable. You can buy anything you want because everything is made there. If you are thinking about it just do it. It's a great opportunity.
Check out Asiaexpat.com it is a website for foreigners living in China (and other asian countries) it has classifieds for jobs and other resources that help foreigners living in China.

It is a good idea if you have been hired by a company in Europe or US, and they sent you to China as their representative. (You got pay with the salary in Europe and US, and you spent Chinese Yuan.)
I don't really feel there is any benefit if you just go there to look for a living if you don't really have any connection.
It is a nice idea if you are retired. Cost of living is much lower in China.
It won't be a good idea if you like a large living space. Most apartments are much smaller than US.

It would be a good idea if you are dedicated to learn that culture and language. In fact, there are already many people doing so. All depends on yourself. However, in my opinion , it is a good idea. At least , you can find a job teaching english as a second language.

If you go to big cities like Beijing and Shanghai it would be ok, but if you are going to smaller cities I can guarantee there are very few English speakers, and even if the do their English are going to be very minimal...
And many ridiculous things happen there...they priase rich people but poor people are always treated badly...polices are trying to get money from your pocket instead of protecting you...
generally, if you are in upper social class it would not be too bad...but if you are going to live in China without higher social status you would be in trouble...
