With all of the current presidential candidates falling over each other to demonstrate their 'faith', shouldn't we be more concerned with their actual leadership ability and knowledge instead of what superstitions they follow?

Focusing on their true qualifications is too depressing.
If the current batch of candidates is an indication of the future, we are in a world of trouble.

It depends on your belief system. I fall under the government as my authority, and I want the leaders of my country to make Godly decisions. If they are truly Godly people they will stand a better chance than anyone else. And it's really far from "superstitious". I don't believe in superstition.
Also, I actually do look for counselors, doctors, dentists, etc. who are born again Christians over those who strictly follow science. I prefer going to someone who follows the Great Scientist. Science is God given anyway.

I believe the trait you are looking for is character. Most candidates believe and use the American Civil Religion, so this is one value which much is made of has little to do with any leadership.
As far as the current president position on science, you need to look at all the scientific issues, not the one you would promote.

What's the difference what a politician says ? They'll say whatever they think will get them the most votes. They may as well talk about "faith" as about any other subject, because it's all just so much hot air.

Plenty of doctor's practice a religion...and I bet you still go, and plenty of people that lead, don't believe in anything and make dumb mistakes as well.(i assume you're refering to Bush as the "leader that doesn't believe in science" or something...but I'm christian and think he's stupid to) And not all religions are superstitious, and just becuase you are religious doesn't mean you don't believe in science and can't practice medicine.
