If you ask, you pay.

Would you expect him to split the bill if he asked you? Going dutch is fine...after you've been together for a bit. Not recommended in the initial dating phase.

The best way to ask is to find out what kind of movies that he likes. If you are asking...you should pay. Just like when the guy asks...he should pay. If he offers accept, but expect to pay.

Just ask! Slip it into a conversation some time.
you-"Hey how's it goin'?"
him-"Fine. Whats up?"
you- "Oh nothing... Just hoping I could find the courage to ask you to the movies this weekend."
something smooth, that will make you both smile is always fun.
You should offer to pay for yourself. Usually if you offer he will say No, I've got it.

Good Luck!

It's very simple, you get your brain to tell your vocal cords to impress your lips to form these words, "Hey, you wanna do a movie sometime?"

Seriously, if you're asking him out, that makes it weird. Who pays? Good question. Keep it casual at first. If he offers to pay, let him, that would be a good sign! If not, he's probably not thinking about it as a date.

DO NOT offer to split. that's like saying, "i'm not really worth you paying like a gentleman should". i don't understand this at all ladies! when i was dating(not that long ago actually) the guy always wanted to pay (no matter who asked). They use it as a way of impressing us and showing us :)

a short discussion on which movie to watch... Id say thats the most important part... And concerning the money, wait for the occasion and offer to pay if he isnt that well off itd be nice for him - and be sweet about it =) We want to be called equals, so we share not only job offers, but everything... thats only fair aye

Really it's not up to you.. You go and assume your paying for yourself and when it's time to pay.Look at him and his look will tell you what his plan is...If he makes you pay he is a loser...If it's half and half then is smart... If he pays for you he either wants something more then a movie or he is a
gentle man and believes in treated girls like queens...

Ask if there are any movies out hes interested in seeing, if he expresses interest in a couple you wouldnt mind seeing as well, then ask him. Since your asking him out, expect to either pay for both, or at least yourself. The other option is when you get to the ticket counter is say, i'll get the tikets, you get the popcorn or drinks, but do not expect him to pay for the whole thing unless he offers, again, your the one asking HIM out. If he asked YOU out, you should expect him to pick it up, or pick up your share.
