No on the soy sauce unless you are doing just a few drops. Too much sodium.

Rice is a good basis for home prepared dog food. It is not a complete diet though. What are you feeding besides rice?

Dog nutritional requirements are not the same as humans.

Home Prepared Dog and Cat Diets is a good cookbook if you want to make your own dog food. Lots of accurate information on dog nutrition. I've included a link to the book on Amazon.

Maybe the thinking is that the soy sauce will overpower the delicate taste of the rice if poured directly on. Japanese take their rice very seriously, and if it is cooked well you can really tell the difference. Many Americans find white rice rather bland, which is why you see all those rice mixes in the grocery store. We like to eat our Japanese rice with tsukemono or other garnishes, but I wouldnt think of adding straight soy sauce directly on the rice. Much too strong.

I have heard sodium benzote (in soy sauce) can cause kidney/ liver damage in humans. If it can cause damage in humans- it can in dogs. Also white rice isn't the best for dogs- if you HAVE to feed rice, brown is the best, however dogs are carnivores and really only need meat.

you know forget the soy sauce it is dangerous. one more thing if you are feeding your dog all these things make sure your dog is getting a lot of exercise otherwise this is also bad for its health, I'm serious. i knew a man who gave his dog sandwiches, cheese, steak, you name it. his dog was over weight and is now 6 feet under ground.
don't forget this tip.
dogs only eat once a day unless its a puppy where they eat about twice.

It is not really harmful
But is is not good for their health!
Dog can't eat salty and spicy food!.
So be careful!
I suggest you to just give it dog food!
Because I give my dog a dog food!
and it will be healthy!
Trust me!

Soy sauce has too much salt. The best thing for your dogs is to get regular dogfood that is designed for the breed.

i don't think soy sauce is even good for people,
so it's safe to say it's probably not good for dogs either.

I have 5 dogs. 3 show boxers, a Boston and a mix breed. All have food allergies. My suggestion is not to feed any dogs anything other than a well balanced diet strictly geared toward that particular breed and keep it that way.

Why are you not feeding them dog food? Soy sauce is high in sodium. Stop giving it to them and feed them dog food.
