Wow! Mom - you should be proud of your son! That's fantastic - you have instilled some great values into the boy!
I don't live in the NC area but I would be willing to bet someone would be willing to hire him. Especially like the previous poster indicated - the grocery stores.
He could also check summer camps - they might hire him as well.
There should be some place he can work.
Good luck!

In my opinion, 14 is defintiely NOT too young to work! I began working when I was 12. I started out babysitting to earn money to buy the clothes that I wanted. My Mom's idea of clothes for me was not the same as mine. Of course, times are different than back then, but my daughter started working at a restaraunt when she was 14. She washed dishes. I personally think it's very good for kids to learn work habits early in life. You may have him try restaraunts or grocery stores for a job. Some grocery chains hire young people to bag groceries.

If you know any independent tradesmen(carpenter, landscaper, mechanic) see if they may need some help this summer. Someone who works by themselves or with a helper can often use a hand. The money your son could earn will be probably better than bagging groceries and your son will learn skills that will undoubtedly help him in the future.
