I have noticed this as well up in Massachusetts. It is very confusing as you never know which door to walk towards when your in the parking lot. Allot of places dont really label the doors well either so you end up pulling on a door that wont open when your supposed to go around the other side.
I think alot of us are prone to walk in on the right side because we drive on the right side of the road. Ever notice how the natural flow of sidewalks, escalators, and other pedestrian walkways follow the same rule? Most people aim for the right while in motion so its only natural to have the doors in and out of the store always to your right (I would assume in England the same rule applies, but backwards with people aiming left instead of right.)

I think only "older" people would notice this as "backwards." I am in my mid-40's, and have never seen the entrance on the left until the last 7-8 years or so. It did seem rather odd at first, but now I'm getting used to it.

Not any around here. As your facing the door, from the outside, the entrance is on the right, of all the stores, Aldi's, Target, Walmart, Kroger... all of them.

I think I know what you are talking about. I thought maybe it was done this way (at Walmart at least) so that it was easier for the people that work in the parking lot to return the carts.....the carts are on the left hand side when you walk in, so it makes sense to have the entrance on the left side.....on the opposite side of the building it is flip flop though, and the entrance and the carts are on the right.

I drive on the right side of the road and I walk on the right side of the sidewalk, therefore, I enter doors that are on the right. If I go in the wrong one then So Be It.

Yes, I too have noticed it. And I wish the rest rooms were labeled the same.(Men always on the left, Woman always on the right) or vice versa in all public places.

I think they are trying to confuse us *laugh*. I noticed it a few years ago and my husband always teases me because I still just automatically go to the door on the right.
