Really , I have no need to justify what I believe to myself. I am very happy with my believes and they lead me through a good path in life. Just because I don't live by your unbelievable Christian ways does not mean I live an immoral life. A lot of you are always making this assumption. Be free, open your minds.

Jen B - This is what I'm talking about "I only have myself to blame" Funny thing is you don't even see how wrong that is to talk to someone like that. You people scare me.

Christians don't cope well with dissenting view points. Be thankful they have not burned you at the stake, you sinner.

The Bible say "thou shalt not kill". It does not specify when life begans. No one knew back then and really we still don't. It does not say what not to kill. And, do you kill small animals and insects? And do you eat meat? That is killing too. I sure hope you don't eat eggs! I don't really "believe" in abortion at least not as birth control. But birth control can fail. I have seen men force their girlfriends to get abortions because they didn't want to use birth control. And, it can be unhealthy for women. And, please note that very few abortions are performed now days. Any abortions are within the first three months. The so called "partial birth" abortion has to do with which comes first feet or head and not that the baby is able to stay alive on its own. It is most often done to save the mother's life. Do you prefer to let the baby and the Mother both die? Do you prefer the life of a Mother with loved ones and other children to a fetus who knows no one and nothing and who may not live either? What if both Mother and baby die without an abortion? What do you think then? Isn't it more murder to let both Mother and baby die than to let just the unborn fetus die? The fetus will die anyway without the Mother's body! What is an abortion though? Is a woman letting her egg go unfertilized each month an abortion? If a woman is not pregnant all the time is this killing life? It is killing potential life and so is eating eggs. And, eating fertilized eggs, as many people do is murder if you follow the line of anti-abortion activitists. I hope the Pope does not eat eggs. And, he is wasting life potential by not getting married and having children. If all women were pregnant all of the time how would you feed all of those kids? Where would they go? People will die of starvation. Nothing would be achieved as everyone would be having sex all of the time to save the life potential held in sperm and eggs. Yet, it is funny that no one cares about the lives of these babies once they are born. And, we have a "pro-life" president who is supporting murder and massacres all over the world. Is that ok? If you are against abortion I hope that you are also against all and any war, eat no eggs, no meat, and are pregnant all of the time and adopt all of the unwanted kids. I also hope that you support socialized housing, medicine and all of the things which help the kids stay alive once they are born! I hope that you have a large house and a larger pocketbook. My parents who did not believe in premarital or extramarital sex and were highly religious (my Dad a preacher) said that the poor should be allowed abortions because the rich can always get them somehow. They just fly off to another country. And, they wondered why no one cares for these babies after they are born!

As a Christian answering this question, it's amazing to see all of the generalizing going on from people outside the Christian faith. I find myself explaining, not justifying, my beliefs, just about every day on this forum. But not because I feel like I have to validate my faith. I only answer questions if there is some honest misunderstanding of what I believe, and the person asks for clarification.

As far as being free, and opening our minds, do you think it takes a closed mind to have faith? Or an open one?

God will either justify you, or not. It is He you must answer to. Not me, or any other Christian. It is His standard we all will be judged by.

i know how you feel. i'm agnostic and i've witnessed so many people blinded by their faiths that they feel they must prove every other belief incorrect. it's not just christians though. and some atheists do it too. Ususally it is a small percentage of the groups that will try to argue you incorrect though. I've found that most people are actually kinda cool about respecting others beliefs. it just doesn't seem that way because those people aren't really going to say anything to you because they have no need to, while the "radicals" will post questions asking you to "prove" their beliefs or post on your questions telling you how wrong you are. I find it somewhat amusing because there really is no argument against agnostics because i don't take any side. i also find it amusing how everyone trys to prove the other wrong when neither party has any proof to back up their faith. if there was proof, you wouldn't need "faith". on the other hand there is no proof that the faith is unfounded, yet people will argue with you about it as if they know it to be truth just as they know 1+1=2. I don't get it.

edit: cnsdubie (below me) is a great example of someone with faith that still can respect others beliefs. Rock on!

Because we believe that all humanity will stand before God on the day of judgment to give an account of everything we have done here on earth. What will you say to God on that day? Can you justify yourself?

We also believe that God is the judge of what is good or evil. Any person could easily say, "I am a good person" by their own standards. But the question is: are you a good person by God's standard?

According to God, there is not a single person who ever lived that is worthy of the title of "good" except one, the Son of God. This means that "only God is good" (as Jesus stated.) So, if only God is good, anyone who says, "I am a good and moral person" is basically saying "I am equal with God" or in other words the person is saying, "I am God."

As for your statement: "Be free, open your minds", have you ever thought about what you saying? To open your mind means that you are open to any possibility. Are you open to Christianity?

As for freedom, Jesus said, "If the son sets you free, you are free indeed." What do you suppose this means?

Christians are compelled to prosthetylize by the scriptures we believe.

We are not, however, compelled to be obnoxious about it. So I apologize for those who are for the rest of us. Nobody ever changed anybody else's mind (favorably) by being an obnoxious jerk.

Hopefully some of the people you refer to are just trying to understand why you believe as you do, and honestly, also trying to give you cause to think. That's how Jesus treated people. The ones he showed anger to were those religious authorities of the day who were practicing hypocrisy in the name of God.

I wish you the same open mind, and I hope someday, someone comes across your path that shows you (rather than tells you) what Christianity is all about.

Be blessed.

Who are you trying to convince? Why are you generalizing? You don't have to justify anything to me....I don't have to live your life / walk in your shoes / or stand in your place on Judgment Day.

For the record; I am a Christian and I KNOW there are non-believers with morals. That's not the issue / the point. The point is, without Christ, a person can not go to Heaven. A Christian's heart is burdened for those who don't know Christ. We know the blessings they are missing out on - the greatest of which is a relationship with the Lord!

That is true, you don't have to justify what you believe. Not to anyone. If a Christian approaches you about your beliefs or lack of belief, it is most likely because their belief is so strong that it is hard for them to accept your "different lifestyle", that's all. They may not always handle it respectfully.

After giving my life over to Christ 9 years ago, it has been a glorious change for me and I am happy for the reformation. Although I must respect your choice to wait in giving your life to any faith. It is not my choice or anyone else's to make for you, but it is our task to invite you into a life of peace and God's love.

Only you know if you are truly "happy" right now, so we should respect your word and allow you adequate time to make a decision of worship. When the time is right to research and find the appropriate path, you will know.

In the meantime, we shall pray for God's divine intervention to touch your heart and lead you to a righteous way of life.

Peace to you always

That is so funny. I wonder the same thing only why Atheists think I need to justify my beliefs. (I've heard the old, because religious people make up our laws--but that is crap--I disagree with a bunch of them.)

I don't think you need to justify anything to me or Christianity or any other religion. I have done what I needed to do in proclaiming the way to heaven, if you choose to go opposite of that, you have only yourself to blame.

Edit: That is funny too, you tell me to "open my mind" but I can't say you only have yourself to blame. Why are you so easily offended? Talk about scary.

I don't think you need to Justify what you believe. I am a christian and all I ever want is to make sure you know why you believe it. But that's just because of personal interest, I like learning others religions and reasoning. Besides that Its between you and God.

You think too much of yourself. True christians know that God gave every man a free will. You are therefore free to accept or reject Him, or believe whatever else you choose to believe. Why then would we expect you to justify these beliefs? Sorry to burst your ballon, but we're simply not that involved with your life.
