I'm just thinking about the enviroment and how we can
conserve more. It just seems like batteries don't need to be garbage.

They are definitely recycable. Many electronic stores, such as Best Buy, will accept old batteries for recycling.

There have been many claims that ordinary batteries can be recharged. In fact you can buy rechargers for them – see http://www.shoppersworld.co.uk/store/product.asp?s=334&d=1783&p=36068&c=13&s1=159&s2=0&s3=0 for example.

These gadgets use pulsed DC to prevent the battery overheating and blowing up as it would if you applied any useful level of continuous DC.

However, when you delve into the fine print, you find that the capacity of the battery falls rapidly with each charge, so that by the 10th charge it will only last a few minutes.

This is why recharging ordinary batteries has never really caught on. If you use a lot of batteries and want to recharge them, why not buy rechargeable batteries in the first place?

They aren't supposed to be thrown away. Any battery store, many cell phone stores, many electronics stores, and The Home Depot will allow you to return batteries to them for recycling.

No it is not possible reuse the batteries. Recycling is expensive and not worth doing.Since it is a chemical process it is not reusable and is dangerous also.

technically , batteries are not supposed to be thrown away in the trash they are supposed to be disposed of properly , they arent recycled or reused but they are an environmental hazard and should be taken to a place where they can be dealt with.

standard batteries are not reusable. However, they should not be put in our landfills. Check for battery recyclers in your area

Well, they do make rechargable batteries that you can recharge and reuse if you choose. But most batteries people commonly purchase are not rechargable.
