It's been my understanding that a volcano eruption causes way more damage than what we could posibly do. i mean the earth is getting closer to the sun ever rotation around it, so it seams understandable there would be global warming. not to mention, the earth has had this exact thing happen before, and i doubt the T-rex was driving SUV and using aresol hair spray.
Dont get me wrong, i think we should keep our place here on earth clean and healthy, but destroying the earth? i think that is pretty egotistical to think we actually effect the outcome of the planet. speed it up well maybe. but cause it, no i don't think so.

Tell me how we are destroying it with facts. and be sure to include a measure of significance. i mean adding a drop to a bucket yes i helped to fill it up. but evaporation eliminated 2 drops .. get my point. Dont bash me without facts, or you'll i am forced to simply see you as a puppet with no knowledge, facts or self respect to gather and form your own opinions.

FACTS. Your understanding about volcanoes is dead wrong, a wild assertion with no data from the skeptics. Proof:
http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/how_volcanoes_work/climate_effects.html
Solar radiation is also disproven:

Things like this haven't happened before:

The NASA scientists who measured Mars say the warming there comes from dust storms, and global warming on Earth is real.

Volcanoes - In reality, humans put 150 times the amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere each year than do all the volcanoes on Earth. Bon has provided you with a good link, here's another http://volcano.und.edu/vwdocs/Gases/man.html
Earth's Orbit - The earth moves in an elliptical orbit around the sun, at certain times of the year it’s closer to the sun but then moves away again; this is a seasonal variation. The earth is actually moving ever so slightly further from the sun http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/question.php?number=317
Earth's Cycles - Throughout history Earth has either warmed or cooled and several times it's been considerably hotter and colder than it is now. These natural cycles are very slow and occur over thousands and millions of years, what we're seeing now is a rise in temperatures faster than anything that's been known before and in the last 50 years temperatures rose by the same as they did prior to humans contributing to global warming.
Dinosoars - T-Rex did drive around in cars, here's a picture http://nemp.otago.ac.nz/writing/2002/media/Punctuation.jpg
----------------
Turning to your specific question - Can we do anything about it?
There are a great many things we can do and I see Bob has included a link to my website where you'll find info about things each of us can do and large scale schemes that are currently being considered.
I answered a very similar question the other day which you can find here - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap7ZVp82.Zqunaplw69h3x0jzKIX?qid=20070611061452AAYzqha (note that there's an error, where it says hydrogen sulphide it should say sodium hydroxide).

I was just doing some reading on this subject and found a very telling article stating data taken from the Vostok, Antarctica ice core. The graph plainly show a pattern of regularly rising and falling temperatures over that last 400k years. According to the graph we are currently in that time period where the temperatures have historically been rising. I found two interesting differences in this data.
First, the time from the start of the warming period to the peak was about 10k years 330k years ago, then about 5k years 240k years ago, and about 3k years 140k years ago. This current warming trend appeared to start about 15k years ago and has 2 degrees Celsius to go until the peak so how can scientists be telling us we are in the fastest warming period in the history of the planet?
Another interesting point on the graph is the obvious huge increase in CO2 doesn't seem to be causing any temperature difference in the long run.
I am assuming someone will come along to tell me this is false data or that I am reading the wrong conclusions from it, but looking at that graph, it really is hard to believe anything out of the ordinary is going on.

Here's the only fact I've got:
The fact that we have to debate this shows how little facts there actually are. I think many people over-estimate the human level of scientific capability. If there were conclusive facts showing we are causing global warming, I haven't seen them. There's some logic and opinion, but no scientific data that can show clearly the cause and effect man has upon global warming. It's a funny irony that so many people blindly accept theory as fact, playing the "science" card without thinking scientifically.

yes we can actually. i've done some research into it and because of the amount of trees being cut down, the global warming increases. if we were to plant more trees, then global warming would slowly be reversed. i'm not too sure about the t-rexs and everything, but i'm sure it wasn't something to do with this same type of global warming.

No, it's going to happen no matter what we do. The point is that we need to react to it.
No head in the sand mentality.
We should begin to study it in ways that will help us understand what the consequences are and what do we need to do to lessen the impact on the global population.
Stop plating the blame game. It doesn't matter what is causing it. It is coming and if we don't start doing something about it we will loose millions. Millions that we could save if we started to respond now.
Thanks

yes and what about the rockets that r sent into space and punching holes in the atmosphere-and what about all the trees that produce oxygen being cut down and toxic spewing factories and automobiles- people of the earth definitely need to make big changes

the human activity is destroying the earth. The smoke that comes from factories contains carbon dioxide which is destroying the ozone layer, which is a layer that protects the earth and the beings on it by absorbing the ultra violet rays

we can totally do something to prevent global warming, or to stop it. Certainly natural disasters also cause damage but what we do with technology and chemical stuff is what is worst to the planet
