This quotation has too often been attributed to President Roosevelt after the attack by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. He said it, but it was "stolen" by one of his speech writers.

However, I first saw the quotation from an English poet written circa the 18th century but for the love of me can't find it anywhere. I too would like to know the original author of that quotation. Good luck.
