Honey, i am so sorry, what a nasty shock it must have been. Yes dogs can have heart attacks, some breeds are actually more prone, mainly the deeper chested breeds such as mastiffs, rottweilers and some large hounds and larger working dogs(saint bernards and other giant breeds). Was there anything strange about the dog, eg foam around the mouth, limbs at a strange angle, once you found her? These can suggest something other than a heart attack, such as poisoning or another sort of organ failure. Was there anything strange about your dog when you fed her, heavy breathing, chest enlarged, stomach bloated, heavy head, stiffness in the legs and back? These are usually signs of an impending heart attack or other organ failure, unfortunately, they are usually not noticed or recognised until after. I had a great dane a few years ago that had a heart attack, and my family recognised the signs that her heart was about to give out, its not the first time we have seen it. Again, honey i am so sorry, but the only way you will know for certain in a death like this is with a necropsy performed by an experienced vet.

OMG I am so sorry for your loss. Yes dogs can & do have heart problems. How old was the dog? Could also have had cancer that you did not know of. They ONLY way to find out what happened to your dog is to take it to the vet & have a necropsy done. (autopsy). If it were my dog that is exactly what I would do because I would want / and have to know. Again I am so sorry & I know it had to be a shock!!!! Your girl is now at Rainbows Bridge running with my girl that I just lost last week http://rainbowsbridge.com/poem.htm

Dogs can have heart attacks!!!!! I had one that did and I did CPR on him!! He did come around but died a few days later.
Sorry to hear about your dog!!!!
With the dog being outside did the dog get over heated ???
You will never know for sure?? If your dog acted like it was just fine when you fed it and it ate all its breakfast then I would say it did have a heat attack!!!!
Sorry , I will keep you in my prayers!!!!!
p.s. I lost two of my dogs within 8 months apart. I had to have both of them put to sleep!!! It was the hardest thing I had to do!!!
It sounds like your dog didn't suffer!!! God, bless you!!!

I'm sure dogs do have heart attacks. My dog had several strokes before he died, although he was 17yrs old. You must be devastated to have no warning to this happening. The vet would be able to tell you what has caused this, but my heart goes out to you, it really does .xx

Wow... I am so sorry to hear that. Almost the same thing happened to my husband's cousin's dog two days ago. He was fine when he left for work that morning, but was dead when he got home that afternoon. They are also thinking it was his heart. They've already checked his food and no, it wasn't tainted. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
