Put in his mouth, post-mortem.

The stuff written about Jesus was written decades after he died, if he existed at all. The writers were trying to build a story around Jesus to show that he fulfilled the earlier prophecies. We have no writings of Jesus, so we have no idea whether he said he is the way or not.

John the apostle, is identified as the author of the book of John, in John 21:24NIV-"This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down".

If Jesus is not the Son of God, then His claims to be the way, the truth and the life would be false. Also would be false would be the Scriptures John wrote about Jesus and John (the Baptist):

"There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."

"Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it"

By the way, Jesus Is who He said He was-the Christ, the Son of God.

Thankfully, we have historical and archaeological records that verify the validity of the Bible. Not only that, God is still continuing to demonstrate His approval through healings and miracles when the Christian message is preached by Holy Spirit anointed preachers like Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson, Gordon Robertson, Reinhard Bonnke, Oral Roberts, Richard Roberts, etc..

Christian Scholar C.S. Lewis said,"One can only look at Jesus three ways.Either He is a liar of the worst kind,or a lunatic,in the order of one who thinks he is a poached egg,or He is Lord. You have to decide."
The Gospel writers were not anonymous.Matthew (also called Levi, his last name) was well known and wrote his Gospel in Hebrew, the only one who did.Mark wrote his as the dictates from Peter. He adds himself at the end ,as the lad who ran away and had his tunic pulled off as he escaped.Dr. Luke was the only Gentile convert to write. He wrote Luke and Acts.He was the traveling companion to Paul the Apostle and wrote his gospel like an investigative reporter. The first 4 chapters interviewing Mary and her relatives( John the Baptist was Jesus' cousin). John the Apostle was well known for years after these incidents and lived to a ripe old age into his 90s.The early church fathers quote extensively from all the gospels in the late 1rst and early 2nd century thereby falsifying any late writings.

I believe he said he was the way and the son of god and that you and I are also the sons and daughters of god. I think those who wrote the bible misinterpreted this because for the most part they misinterpreted Christ's appearance at all. He was and is an enlightened being, which is our birthright as well. All the mythology around his birth and life and death make for great high drama and a good foundation for ritual, but are not the truth. What is true is he was enlightened and we can become that as well. But we have to align our beliefs with reality, have to test each and every one until they are not beliefs anymore but knowledge. When he said I am the way, he meant his consciousness, his state of enlightened being is the only way to resolve the apparent problems of life and suffering. When he said he was the son of god, he was saying he realized his true source OUR true source. Because his followers were not enlightened by his presence they worshipped his words instead which is not the same thing or even anywhere in the same ballpark as the same thing. Only in your own enllightenment will religion and life be resolved.

The earliest copy of John we have at this sitme, is from aprox 200AD.How ever there were "sermons" that are recorded refering to this material from an earlier time than this. Thos would place the original text to within the lifespan of those who were eyewitnesses of what was said and done.Look up some of the works of F.F, Bruce Norman Geisler,or even G.Fee. If the words had been put in His mouth it would have been easy,at that time for other eyewitnesses to speak up and correct them. Plus John as well as the other disciples were willing to die for this belief. If they"made it up" all they would have had to do was recant in order to have lived.

Jesus is the truth, and in no way aliar, but let every man be a liar. Trust not in man , but in the word of God.
Jesus Christ is the son of God, the only mediator between God and man.
Words were not put in his mouth, but He has come to do the will of his Father.
What so every you do in word or deed , do all in the name of Jesus.

Jesus not only said He is the way, He said He is the TRUTH and He said that He is the LIFE. Only God can say, "I am life." Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit were all at Creation and we were created in their image.

when he said he was the way he meat that he was the only way to heaven, and no one could get to the Father without him. There is no lunaticism (if that's a word) in this text. He was the only begoten son of God.
