Ok, this is getting annoying.
If you are an Atheist and ask some insightful question and pose it in a kind way, you get "You're going to hell!"
And if you're Christian and ask some insightful question, you get: "There is no god"
Both totally ignore the question.
Why?

Okay Paul, I don't have a Christian one but I do have an Atheist one, it may not be insightful but the first answerer completely ignores the question.

nondescript: do you hear yourself? no one cares if all you want to say is "there's no god" they want answers to their question.

Well, probably the question was too difficult to answer logically. When some people encounter a tough question they can't adequately answer, they just make a flippant statement or insult the other person. It makes the asker look like the smarter and more polite person anyway. Remember, jerks come from all walks of life, and all religions and backgrounds.

Some people that CALL themselves Christians are worst then Atheists. But Atheist are not saints either.
In this world, each person wants his/her view out there and would do anything for others to believe. Sadly some christians go the extreme with this and drive people away from God. Atheist on the other hand, close themselves so bad that their anger is reflected through the words (like some christians as well)
In yahoo answers, especially in the religious section each religion is trying to put their views out there and no matter what the question is it will always come down to one thing, the belief of the person.

If a question is explicitly addressing christians or godbelievers in general, I normally don't answer it, and in this case it's ok with me if the question implies that there is a god. But if more general questions are asked, the answer "there is no god" is allowed and valid.
And the most strange questions are those where a godbeliever addresses atheists and then implies that there must be a god. Those guys really have missed something ...

Religion is a hot/sensitive topic. People feel very strongly that their convictions are the only right convictions. This forum on Yahoo answers gives the religious and non-religious a place to have their beliefs read and maybe convert others to their way of thinking. You just have to wade through the trite "no god" "hellbound" responses to find the meaningful stuff.

Because whether they are Athiest or Christian, they are human first. Both Athiest and Christians chose to believe the way they do. No one is born not believing in a higher power than themselves. THey seek and find and CHOOSE that which they want to believe.
Great Point though. We need to respect one another. Just because I may not agree with your philosophy doesn't mean I should not be civil.
A lesson for us all to learn because it polarizes the readers who are undecided.

I am going to be a total optomistic and put a positive bend on your question.
Some atheists are as good as some Christians.
There are good and bad apples in each bunch. For some reason the bad apples get more attention.

i suppose it depends on the context, but usually an atheist saying there is no god is more in line with a christian saying that jesus exists. i suppose the nearest an atheist could come to saying you're going to hell is to tell the christian they're going to be condemned to sweden.

Yes, it is annoying. Though I disagree about your theory that SOME Atheists are as bad as some Christians. I've found that many of the atheists here have nothing to add to any conversation other than cynical ridicule.

Actually, "There is no god" is usually a valid response to most Christian questions. If the question has, at its basis, the implied assumption that a god exists, then the correct answer is to point out this false premise.
On the other hand, "You're going to Hell" usually doesn't address the types of questions atheists answer. It is more of just a cheap threat. In an argument, it is called an ad hominem attack.
