My husband and I were coworkers for about 3 years before everything started. We hated each other and the other coworkers made jokes about our hatred. One day I was involved with the other coworkers on a bet. The deal was if I won, I got the day off, If I lost, I had to go on a date with my now husband. I was sure I would win, so I placed the bet. Needless to say, I lost. I reluctantly went on the date. We actually had a fabulous time and have been happily married ever since. Looking back, I remember riding in the car that night, waiting for him to take a pit stop and I was planning to leave him on the side of the road!!! Kinda glad I didn't. He have had several beautiful years and hope to have many, many, many more.

I met him in college...in 2004, I was a junior, and he was a freshman. We were both in an organization together, and he was easy to get along with. He invited a group of us to come hang out in his dorm room, so I went along, and he was showing us photos of a trip he had just taken to Honduras. I saw one photo of Yellow fruit on a tree, and I (without really thinking) asked, "Are those lemons?" and he quietly replied, "No, those are coconuts."
I remembered thinking right after, "Oh. Good. Heavens. he will never talk to me again." He tells me that at the time he thought, "Is she joking? Oh-man, she's serious. I'm going to look like a jerk if I don't answer this carefully."
We became really great friends over that next year and a half, and then developed romantic feelings for each other, dated for another year and a half after that, and we just got engaged in April...he still jokes with me occasionally about the lemon question...lol.

Setting: Party
I was: Awkward friend of a friend who happened to be bottle girl of the night!
He was: the host.
Because I was bottlegirl, well I brought the most, he felt soooooo bad, so he approached me with $20 in hand:
"Here, you know, because thats unfair to you"
"What? I can't...besides, its what you do"
"Right, this is what I do.. now take it before I decide not to drink tonight"
"...awh...dnt be a party pooper" So I took it. Our hands stayed on the $20 for a second....
"Dont think this buys you anything more than alcohol"
"You're worth more than $20"
And guess who I danced with, laughed with and lip-synched with all night?
Silly story and not that romantic, but you never know where you'll find it....
