My left foot hurts, the pain is on the right side next to my ankle. It's not swolen and only hurts when I bend my foot down or rotate it to the right. Is it just a sprain? and what can I do to help the pain when i'm walking?

It definitely sounds like a muscle is pulled. The only way you're going to know absolutely what you have is to see an orthopedic doctor or a Podiatrist as soon as possible.

You should stay off of your foot as much as possible until you see the doctor. Place an ice pack on the area for ten minutes at a time, several times a day. Advil soft gel capsules can help reduce the pain, take them four times a day.

it sounds like it might be tendonitis. I've got it, the pain is on the inside of the right leg, on bad days it goes from the arch of my foot, right up past the inside of my ankle and halfway up my calf. It feels like a bad bruise, but on occasion I can't walk on it. That doesn't happen regularly though. I got it diagnosed by going to a private physiotherapist, he gave me a thorough examination - something that I knew my GP wouldn't provide. A physio will probably be more qualified to find out what the problem is because they specialise in bones and joints.

It is worth getting it looked at, if it turns out to be tendonitis then you need to start treatment. My course of treatment was to do a few exercises and I had to submerge the leg upto the knee in ice water for 10 minutes for 2 weeks - owch. I'm not suggesting you do that yet, but I do suggest you seek professional help if it continues.

You might want to examine your footwear for sign over wear inside and out.
