As Solomon said, there's nothing new under the sun. For the most part the teachings of the Bible transcend time and culture and aren't really in need of updating.
One of the reason we no longer need active prophets is the invention of the printing press and the proliferation of the Bible. There's no need to send someone into a town to preach the truth when the average US household contains 3-4 Bibles and 92% contain at least one.
We do have people we could consider to have the ministry of a prophet -- people who call attention to social problems and promote God's plan. We just don't have Bible-writing prophets.

Obviously, you know little to nothing about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have a prophet of God with us today--96 year old Gordon B. Hinckley.
He wears a suit and tie, not flowing robes, and carries a walking stick and not a staff.

Who is to say he has not?
Only those that seek shall find.................if we wait for the mass to decide on who is or who is not a prophet we could all be in for a long wait.
Do you think that god would leave us with out some guidance that we could ALL follow regardless of what time in history it was????????????
god has been speaking to us all the time, we just have to listen.......
You question is a protal to all your answers...

And who said he hasn't?
By the way, it is difficult to make up something that exists in material form. We are an intelligent species after all, at least...some of us are.
Think about this: every single civilization on earth, since time began, has had a 'supreme being' they worshiped. Call 'him' what you will, 'he' apparently exists.
As I replied to another question--I have my own thoughts and theories about this 'supreme being', this 'creator', and more. Perhaps, I WILL tell the world....someday.

Do you know how quickly he/ she would be killed? Besides, with all the sin in the world, I don't think a prophet would make it very far. Far as in the sin would make him sick.
That and we're getting one soon: the anti christ
:D

How do you say he has not chosen a one or Himself has chosen to descend to the earth? If you are inquisitive, you can find one.

Because the last one was Mohamed and look how many people rejected him because they didn't like what he had to say.
