Is it considered Christian and good-mannered to call other people "idiots" or other insulting terms?

Just curious about the decaying moral values within some christian households.

YOU ARE VERY WRONG ABOUT THIS...
My son would never say this in the first place...sometimes I really wonder where you get your information, other than making it up...! How many Christian households have YOU even been in....EXACTLY

It's a matter of venue, not upbringing.

If I share a seat with a man on a bus (for example), and we get into a discussion, either of us may say things the other considers idiotic. Unless he's truly boorish, he wouldn't call me an idiot to my face although he may certainly think it.

Later, though -- in the privacy of our own homes -- both of us may use less than complimentary terms to describe the other person. Mea culpa; I have done so, in my grandchild's hearing, and then had to sit down and explain why Gran was wrong.

It may be a bit of a stretch to infer from behavior on this forum that moral values within Christian households are decaying. More likely, anonymity offers a strong temptation to give in to the less pretty aspects of our nature. It's not an excuse, but it is understandable. All of us tend to forget our manners here from time to time.

I would hate to hear what they teach in atheist's & non believer's households from what I have read on this forum. I am curious about the moral values that atheists and non believers claim to have.

Name calling on this site has gotten out of control. Why single out the Christians?

Some Christians claim to be perfect, however, that is far from the truth. We all mess up and sin. We are faulty humans.

Why is it OK for the atheists to blow out every kind of insult to a Christians question? When atheists and other non believers do that it is human nature to want to retaliate. We, as Christians shouldn't, but some of us do at times but that doesn't constitute lack moral values and decay in our households.

We are all accountable for our words - believers and non believers alike.

I agree..I thought Christians should be held to a higher standard...afterall, they are to be "Christ-like". However, if you read many of their posts, they are rude, condescending and many times outright mean.

However, I do not feel that these people are quite as spiritual as their self-inflicted title would suggest. They may wear the title of Christian, but I question that they feel it in their heart.

Completely agree.

I kind of guess quite a few of the R&S folks spouting this kind of hyperbole might be tetesterone filled high school kids. Not that that is an excuse.

Christians are somewhat "backed into a corner" by the fact that their central religious beliefs are false. As a result, they wind up having to resort to the name-calling and childish insults that you see here.

However, note that the Christians who we see here are only a subset. Many Christians are mature enough to admit that they believe based on faith, and so don't make a practice of polluting internet forums like the Christians here do.

Courious as to how many "Christian" households you have been in to make such a bias statement.

Also in a household many terms/names are given to each other not as a insult but as a family talk.

Perhaps YOU need to be concerned about YOUR decaying moral values

good manners are lacking in nearly every home, Christian or otherwise

Just because they " believe" in God does Not mean that they are a Christian family. If you listen long enough to how a person talks then their true character will show up.
