Nothing is a false promise if someone believes truly in that faith. Same goes for atheist... Them not believing in anything is also a path they are following filled with promises of freedom and liberty from religious boundaries. Boundaries exist in everything anyone believes in. There is no deception in religion. As a Muslim I believe in Allah and like other religions I know that mine is the right one. BUT if someone chooses not to believe in something, that's their personal choice. Everyone has to follow their own beliefs whether they include 1 God, no God or many Gods/ Goddesses.

You don't have to but that doesn't mean you can't keep the good aspects of religion. I don't call myself a christian, don't belong to or attend any church, yet I believe I live a more christian life than most people who make noise about their religion.
Whether Buddha grew up to be the Himalayas or whether Jesus was the son of God doesn't really matter. They were pretty good guys and we can learn a lot from them. You can study the religious text as philosophy instead of as religion.
But the institution representing religion (the church) is a pretty despicable thing.

In my opinion, the deceit started after the founder was gone. The founder gave a way to deliver on the promises. Those who came along later lost the way.

Why should you? We have been taught that we "have" to, but think for yourself. Question what you've been taught. Research different religions and philosophies for yourself and find out what speaks to your spirit. Find the religion or philosophy that makes you feel peaceful, centered. Pick up a book called "Buddhism, Plain & Simple" by Stephen Hagen. It's a simple read and a great place to start.

Well, your faith is a personal choice so why would you follow something you had no respect for? Do you have friends that you have no respect for? I personally have faith in my faith and Respect the Bible and the God I love. I however have gone to some churches I had little respect for and never came back. My Faith is completely something I have the upmost respect.

Small minds and big open ended ideas work well together. It has no proof and it can't be logically explained. The answer "it just is because that's how god made it" requires absolutely no rational or intelligent thought so it works perfectly for them.

You should lead your own way when it comes to personal beliefs and create a personalized religion. You shouldn't just continue eating what you are fed if you don't agree.

I respect the Christ the Son of the living God. I go to church so that I may be encouraged and so that I may encourage my brothers in sisters in the Lord. That is what my Bible tells me to do so that is what I do.
In Jesus Name
