Rings are a symbol of love and affection for one person to the other.
It is not the ring on your finger that weighs importance but what lies in ones heart.

It depends entirely on the taste of the individual buying/receiving. The engagement ring typically has a stone of some sort, in most cases a diamond. (though increasingly, people choose other stones) The wedding band is sometimes plain, sometimes decorated with stones. I have small hands, so my wedding band is a wrap that fits snugly against my engagement ring. But if you are asking what the traditional rings would be, the answer is a solitaire diamond engagement ring, and a simple band for the wedding ring.

They are totally different in appearance! An engagement ring, they symbol of the promise of marriage, is a diamond ring with many colors, shapes, sizes, and styles.
A wedding ring is a simple band, sometimes with an engraving on the inside or a simple design on the outside, given at the actual wedding ceremony. It is often bought to match the color and style of the engagement ring so that they can be worn together.
Hope this helps!

This is largely a matter of the expectations of the couple. You can get 'bridal' sets, that have an engagement ring and wedding band that fit nicely together and compliment eachother. Some get a plain band for the wedding ring, and a ring with a stone for the engagement ring. (The flashier one often comes first, even though this seems backwards to me!).
Ultimately, though, marriage isn't about the ring. It's about what the ring symbolizes. An unbroken union with no beginning and no end. A good marriage should be very similar - with love and support for one another that is unquestionable and unending.

The engagement ring usually has a center stone. The wedding ring usually does not. Sometimes wedding rings are sold in a matching set, bride and groom. Sometimes the engagement ring and wedding ring are sold in a matching set so they fit nicely together.
Sometimes a wedding ring is knowns as a wedding band. Can just be a plain band of gold.
The most traditional engagement ring is a single diamond setting. The wedding ring would then just match it in material, gold or platinum, and be about 3 mm thick.

An engagment ring (for women) usually is more decorated, usually with a diamond. A wedding ring is usually a plain band. At least to my knowledge, but these days, people are doing all sorts of things.

As far as I know the engagement ring is the one with decoration and wedding ring is just a band. Like my ring actually intertwines. So, my wedding band locks under my engagement ring.
But, some people buy an engagement ring seperate from a wedding ring and just take off the engagement ring when they get married. It all is up to your preference.

I don't feel that it matters what the rings look like, just the meaning behind them. In a movie I saw once the guy used a cigar label as a wedding ring, cause he couldn't afford a real ring. Later on, he had a gold wedding ring made just like the cigar label. I thought it was sweet. I've also heard of guys giving one of their rings as an engagement ring. Although an engagement ring isn't necessary, it is traditional.

Well an engagement ring is just as fancy or as plain as the people want it to be in their eyes. I know of someone who had and engagement ring that was just a simple band and when they got married they added a thicker and a bit fancier band behind that one for the wedding band. It really is all what you like. I hope this helps.

My engagement ring was my wedding ring for the first couple of years. It was a beautiful ring of 2 ct.. I now have a small band of diamond that we found to match. Lots of people wear one ring for both. If it is a plain gold band, it should wait to be worn until after you are married.
