I'm from Australia and have noticed cars offered for sale internationally on ebay, for example I have found one that I am interested in that is in England. Has anyone ever brought a car this way? How expensive was it to have it shipped and how did you make payment for the car?

Don't buy a car off e-bay, have had a few come through my work shop, they look good but when you get them on the hoist, they are totaly unroad worthy, Had one come from victoria and even undeneath it looked good, but on closer examination, there was more body filler and fiberglass throughout the whole car than there was metal.
The car was a write off.
You do have consumer protection through e-bay though, but why risk your hard earned $$$, goto a good car yard and get a good car you know is right, as for buying a car from oversees, unless you are a collector and you have found a classic, then don't bother, most oversees cars don't pass our Australian compliance test's and you have to spend thousands on getting them up to the standard, that is not to mention the cost involved in getting the car here from the other country.
You could end up paying three times the cars value just to get it onto the road.
Stay with a car from this country, and not off e-bay.

I would think that the expense to ship a car half-way around the world would cost you thousands of dollars. You better REALLY want that particular car!

I have not purchased one yet. I am just a cronic window shopper. Check out the Hottest Auto auctions from ebay at
