Photoshop 7 is an old version, so they are probably not carrie dby most stores. Photoshop CS3 is the newest retail version. I think that's version 10 on the number scale.
You can probably still find Photoshop CS2 (v9) for sale, because CS3 is only a couple of months old. Having used both v7 and CS2, I'd defiantly recommend CS2. There's a lot of advanced filter sets in CS2 that don't exist in v7. However, CS2 (and CS3 for that matter) require a lot more memory and a faster processor to run than v7.
I'm sure you can find versions of Photoshop 7 and CS (v8) on ebay, and you might also check with Amazon.com because they have used product listings for just about everything they sell new, and for items like Photoshop 7 that they don't stock anymore.
