Some have more spots than others Its a genetic thing , I have heard of redfish having over 40 spots on them

Not uncommon at all, at least around here, there are several redfish tournaments that I know of that size doesn't matter.... spots do... trying to find a pic of last year's Hunt for Reds in October here on the IRL, thing had like 22 spots or something crazy like that... looked like a dang seatrout.

It may be uncommon to catch one with 8 spots but it is not uncommon to catch one with multiple spots on each side I have personally caught one with 3 on each side
