I'm sure all of you who log in here to answer questions about islam have a huge love for this religon....so let's think together of ideas that can help change this stereotypical false image of islam......something big, global that can have a social peaceful impact and may change some opinions.....let's hope and pray god blesses us with this honour

First, start small and then do something big to show the true Islam before it was hijacked by terrorists.

1. Dispelling stereotypes:

- Act like how a Muslim is supposed to act. Show people that not all Muslims are terrorists, that we don't hate America, that we don't hate non-Muslims and the other horrible stereotypes about us.

For example, hold dinner parties with your neighbors so they can see that we are human and not like those hateful terrorists.

- hold a protest against terrorism!

- Get your mosques to be in the spotlight. It is required of Muslims to donate money, right? Donate money to your mosque and make the mosque do something that will help benefit your community.
Have your mosque do more to get people interested in learning about Islam. Hold classes for adults and children if it is not already done. Do interfaith dialogs with Christians, Jews, Muslims and all other religions out there.

- Write to your local newspaper with a petition signed by Muslims in your neighborhood against terrorism.

- Start a club in your community with Muslim men, women, teenagers and children striving to end stereotypes against Muslims.

- Make a play dispelling stereotypes and hold it for free for your community.

- try to get local media coverage. If they refuse then try Democracy News (you can find it on the Internet).

- join existing organizations with Muslims helping to stop hatred against them and/or against terrorism.

- use your creative skills! Have writing talent? Then write a book! Have painting skills? Paint something about Islam that shows it in a positive light. Make t-shirts stating, "I'm a Muslim and no that doesn't mean I'm a terrorist," or Islam is not the enemy, Terrorists Are!"
Use your imagination!

*******The most important one!!! Help people understand the Quran when they take it out of context.******

Global ideas:

Start an international organization with Muslims spreading the true word of Islam. How? I don't know, but I'm sure that there is something on the web.

Help poverty stricken countries to help stop poor families to send their children to terrorist run schools. How? Start an charity to help build schools and have volunteers to teach the real Islam and a real school education.

Spread the true Islam where it is needed most. Where young people are susceptible to becoming terrorists.

Finally,

**** Learn everything that you can about Islam so you can be prepared to answer questions!*****

One more idea about a t-shirt slogan. "72 virgins for sucide bombers is a myth!"

No offense, but why would you want to classify yourself as a victim? Once you do that, you lose the ability to assert something positive about yourself and your community. Victim stance is a reactionary way of dealing with the world - that is to say, it puts you in the position where your only strength is the ability to guilt others.

I know I wouldn't want to be in that place.

Another thing, Islam is how people practice the religion. I understand that you have a particular set of ideals that Muslims generally aren't meeting. That's fine, I get that. But if you want to change how the religion is perceived, start living out those "true principles" rather than giving presentations and lectures on a hypothetical "perfect Islam" because that is just a religion that lives in the mind.

The same holds true with Christianity. Jesus might have said,"Judge not" and "turn the other cheek", but Christianity allows for massive criticism of other religions and ways of being and bombing the heck out of innocent people. The ideal doesn't matter because it isn't relevant to the people who claim the name. Do you see what I'm saying?

I realize that I don't fall under the category of "muslim", but I'm just trying to give you a little bit of the outsider perspective. You're going to need that if you're going to change how your religion is viewed.

All the best,

Lazarus

I'm not a Muslim, but education is the answer. Someone once showed me an article abour Sharia'a law (here on answers) and I learned SO much from that ONE article. That and vocal decrying of groups like al Queda. I think Americans need to see more Muslims coming forward and loudly condemning the killing of innocents. Maybe a Muslims for Tolerence march or something.

Oh, and to anyone who doesn't know, the 1st terri g to answer is a clone of the 2nd terri g. Don't pay attention to her anti-Islamic rants. She can be quite thought provolking, but for some reason she's afraid to do it under her own name.

I completely agree with you and have thought many times of doing something to change the false image of Islam. These extremists are a lot louder and active than the rest of us liberal muslims and it doesn't help that CNN/Fox and other news channels would rather show the extremists than the rest of us. People have such misconceptions about Islam. They mix religion with culture. Islam itself teaches the utmost respect for women but sadly some of the cultures treat women like 2nd class citizens (even worst). I'm willing to make a difference.

As a Muslim I must say again and again that terrorism is not from Islam. I do not worry about the discrimination, because Allaah is my Provider and my provision does not come from a man or woman it comes from Allaah.

However as Muslims we do not just get walked over we do stand up and speak out for ourselves. Allaah again is our Protector and Avenger against these things.

So please do not concern yourself with the plight of Muslims. One day you will have to return to your Creator, just make sure you are upon the correct religion. And may Allaah Guide You Amin.

"have a huge love for this religion"
I don't love or respect religions that teach lies about the existence of The Invisible Man and everyone who doesn't love any particular version of god will go to hell.
This is the greatest sting pulled on humanity since we left the safety of the trees.
I don't like or respect the con men and scammers teaching people it's okay to have invisible friends.
"let's hope and pray god blesses us with this honour"
You cannot petition the lord with prayer! (The Doors). What makes you think someone's up there who can be bought off with some words?
Wouldn't he want Buku money or something - damn; now I'm pretending such an entity exists.

I’ll tell you what would save the world from many of its problems: if everybody was to suddenly wake up from the dream and realise The Invisible Sky Chappie does not exist.
The first thing that would happen is that the muzzies would stop acting like victims and they’d join the world and try and make it a better place.

As is written in Qur’an, the orders from their warrior prophet are to take over the planet and kill the infidels.

48:13 And if any believe not in Allah and His Messenger, We have prepared, for those who reject Allah, a Blazing Fire!

Would the Prophet Mohammed(pbuh) say he was a victim? I do not think so. I will not cry and say I am a victim. No matter what anyone thinks I know I am blessed because I am a Muslim. I know I will be rewarded for whatever suffering that occurs for the struggles of jihad. We need to be proactive and educate people so they stop with the misconceptions.

Islam is the victim and Muslims are the criminals
yes, we are Muslims who didn`t obey Allah and the prophet Mohamed
we didn`t help each other
so the enemies of Islam attacked us and tried to destroy Islam

Yeah, and it's so sad that my sister who died in the world trade center is never coming back.

Don't give me this crap about the poor Muslims. They'll kill you and me too when they get the chance. Just take a look around the world. Everywhere there is Islam, there is terrorism.

If you're not truly afraid of Islam, you haven't been paying attention.

Yes Muslims are victim but not of Islam, they are victim because they have the natural resources of energy and the best weapon using against them to destroy their image is Media as they are presenting Muslims to others.
