Without saying how true any of this is, here's what we hear:
1. Jihad. Kill anyone who doesn't believe the same as you.
2. Women are not really human, don't have souls, something like that. Must submit to men.
3. Stoning and other harsh forms of punishment for things which many of us feel are personal matters, not public.
4. No religious freedom in Muslim countries. That is, if you live in a Muslim country and are not a Muslim, you can be persecuted.
5. Muhammad had a very young wife who would be considered a victim of child abuse in the modern age. (Getting to be a minor point now, I think; most people can see that's just history.)
You want to tell us how true all this is?

It's due to what they watch on TV and what's happening around the world. The media only shows extremists blowing themselves up and causing harm...they never show the peaceful side of islam. There are extremists in every religion and yet we dont hear about Christianity or Judaism etc being bad religions. No religion is bad, it's the people that make it good or bad. Islam is a way of life and it is the one of the only religions that teach the utmost respect for women and gives women rights for everything but some cultures in some muslim countries are horrible...as a muslim i will be the first one to say that some muslim men dont act according to the Quran..they cover up their women and keep them in the house and think that's Islam but they are wrong...

As a non-Muslim, who doesn't hate other religions - by the way, I would say that there are several reasons:
1) Some people are just bigoted against other religions, or anything else that is different from what they believe in.
2) The actions that have taken place in the past few years by those who say that they are doing them in "the name of Islam".
3) The fact that some Muslim societies do not allow freedom of religion.
4) Some of the practices that take place in some, but not all, Muslim countries can seem barbaric, particularly by western society: (stoning, honor killings, female circumcisions, denial of religious freedom, not giving women a choice as to whether they wish to cover their heads or not, ....)
(Please let's not turn this into a tit-or-tat listing of things that make other relgions (or groups) unpopular to Muslims. If someone wants to know that, ask a separate question.

Honestly?Because there is no "mark" that identifies one as "peaceful Islam" and "radical Islam". Also,I think there is denial on the part of "peaceful"Islam when the standard answer is along the lines of "Islam is a peaceful religion,it is just a FEW who make it look bad".My definition of "few" is obviously different from those who claim that. It is not a "few" It is a helluva lot. They don't doctor the film when they show 100's of thousands of people chanting "death to America!"There isn't a worldwide conspiracy to cover up the fact that Iran's president has stated he wants to go to a "love fest" with us instead of his vowed destruction. Without a way to separate, what I know is what I see. Sad,really. I don't like having to feel that way,but unless the cowardly bastards put on a uniform..I can't tell. And when lunatics keep bombing crap, blowing themselves up. Screw P/C. I won't be so naive to think"that Muslim is probably a "good" Muslim.Maybe if I saw some Muslims giving a real effort to eliminate those they claim are the "few"I have no benchmark to guide me. I answer you with honesty, thumbs down me all you want. I'm quite sure that some, heck, maybe even the majority are peaceful.Unfortunately,I'm not equipped with a "peaceful"detector

People look at the actions (killings, bombings, beheadings) and words (threats) and they measure it up to the "peaceful" things Muslims say/do. It doesn't add up. People cannot believe that Islam is a religion of peace when all they see and hear from Muslims is a religion of fear and violence.
I don't hate you because you are Muslim, but I hate your religion. It is a cult and I wish you could get out for your own sake, but you probably never will because the mind control in your cult is so strong.

That's because you don't live in India, Kashmir, Thialand, Tibet, France, Lebbanon. You live in some majority Islamic country.
Now, when you move to a country that has a lot of, for example, Christians and they learn your HOLY BOOK calls them blasphemers for what they believe, don't expect them to be a bundle of joy.
Now, when you move to a country long established where girls are used to a lot of freedom and you call them pieces of meat, as in, for example, Australia, don't expect them to be a bundle of joy.
What you sew, you reap.
And you've OBVIOUSLY never been to Homeschooling, Women's Studies, Politcs, and Immigration at Y/A. There's a whole bunch of JOY JOY happy things going on there that has little to do with Muslims.

Only the wrong reporting and propaganda.
If someone is a Muslim and doing a wrong thing so what will be the thought:
that the person that do the wrong thing is wrong OR
the religion he is the follower of (Islam) is wrong
Think about the same thing about a Christian instead of Muslim and what will be the thought
The person is wrong OR
The Christianity is wrong

In my opinion alot of people hate it because of the actions of a select few, who misinterpret there own religion, and go out wreacking havok and causing death thinking its "gods will" to kill. Sorta like christians, many people misinterpret parts of scripture, then go and act in a way thats is ungodly and it causes people to look at the whole religion in a hateful way instead of lookng at the select few who do that. Thats just my opinion it could be wrong.

Because people are not properly educated on subjects and our history shows that we find it easier to blame and entire group, rather than just a single person or persons.
Don't be offended if you are a peaceful person, and please tell others that same thing who share your views. Our media do not give us all the information we need to make informed decisions and most people wouldn't make the time to figure it out if they did.
Ignorance and laziness are the actual answer, but you have to explain it to make any sense of it.
