I think its probably true. He wants to be Dale Jr the driver not Dale Jr the face of DEI and NASCAR. He wants to step out of Dales shadow and show he is racing because he has the skills not just the famous name. If the latest rumor is true and he goes to Hendrick he just blends in with Gordon who is probably the 2nd most popular driver in NASCAR and Johnson. Both have better stats than him. He can be the 3rd driver and just blend in and do his thing.

Who thinks Eury Jr goes with him? I wouldn't be surprised if that happened too.

He wants a championship. The plan to get it is falling apart at D E I because of politics with in the company. So the choices that Junior faces would be which team of championship caliber is the best fit.Should he go to Childress where his father had so much success, should he go to Hendricks or Gibbs who have won the most championships in the oast decade.Or should he go to a Hendricks associate team an be the headliner from the word go?
These questions are legit and these are taking time to sort and answer.
The tenitive announcement is Hendricks and the official announcement will be today,6-13.
Where ever he goes he will be an impact from the word go.

I think he made the best move possible and yes, he wants to drive, without all the B.S.
I think this will work out well, for all the parties involved.
It's a shame that his step-mother had so much control over the racing aspect of her late husband's enterprises. I think she bit off her nose, to spite her face.
More power to Dale and his new endeavors!

IF it were you and everything you did was thrown in comparison to your father, wouldnt you just want to be another driver. It has to be hard with that name to just do what you want to do, drive fast and win, and get rid of all the clamor. I mean, he loves his dad, but cmon, thats a large piece of real estate to have to be up against all the time. People want to compare, its natural, Jr just wants to be himself and win races like everyone else...

junior could never be just another driver, he has nothing but made all about him by thinking that theresa should give him 51 percent of dei.... I don't think that going to be jeff and jimmies teammate is going to be a good fit they are the fair haired boys over there and I don't think that he going to be a good fit.... he needs to grow up and become a team player. he should have just started his own team and then he could be the driver and the owner just what he wanted a dei... i am just glad he is not going to rcr that would have stunk....

I would think that all of them just want to be drivers. You could take away the announcers, put the races on pay per view, get rid of the commercials and the media BS and it would do wonders for the sport. Every week they pick one thing and ride it out all week and it gets rediculous. If they would just shut up and let things happen, it would do wonders for ANY sport. He would benefit from a lot less hype.

I think Jr wants to be known and accomplish poles, wins and maybe even championship on his own and not in his daddy footsteps. Thats why I think by him leaving DEI will help him in the long run to accomplish what he wants.

How about just another sport "Its all about me" If he wanted to be "Just another driver" he would have gone to Ginn or maybe Gibbs. Sorry folks but there are something you just don't do without selling out your fans and sport. Been a long time DE fan but now it is time to cut the rope and let Dale SR RIP and let JR go to Hollywood. NASCAR will never see my money again.
