No way, imagine the lengths sickos would go to to dispose of the devices. Not a good idea.

The only time I would approve any type of tracking device on children would be in group hiking/camping situations where a child could easily become lost.

As for all other times, here's a better idea- each parent should take responsibility for his or her children, and either keep them
1) within sight or sound at all times OR
2) in the care of another responsible adult.

Had the parents of the alleged kidnap victim been actually WATCHING their child or had they paid a nanny to stay with her, this situation would not have happened! This is not a case of the child wandering off from a campsite or something... the parents willfully LEFT her unsupervised. They are fully responsible for her disappearance.

No. All that is needed is good parenting and teaching children not to wander or go with strangers. Micro chips that are put in dogs are so the owner can be traced not to trace a missing dog. Phones with tracking included won't necessarily stay with a child when it has been taken. People need to take responsibility for the safety of their children and stop worrying so much that they are considering mutilating their children. Implanting a chip is easy but retrieving it is not so the child would either be stuck with a chip for life or be scarred for life after its removal. Would you want that?

No. I want my kids to feel safe. I do this by not putting them in dangerous situations. If I had to explain why the needed a tracking device they would feel the worl is not a safe place (which i know it is not but I want them to have their innocence as long as possible. I just make sure they are not put in a situation that would allow kidnapping

Well, my children are not pets or anything - and I don't think we are robots that should have a serial number or anything weird like that - but maybe a small bracelet or something? That is just my worst nightmare - I cannot even imagine what any parent who loses a child goes through.

I can't believe people are blaming the parents - look up Polly Klaas - she was in her home in her bedroom. Were the parents putting her in a dangerous situation?

I definitely would! I'm sure there is such a thing available. it may be a watch, but i might be thinking about 12 or 13 years ago. There was a photo-card scheme launched in my area years ago. There was a photo of your child and a short description i.e colour of hair, eyes etc. As far as I'm concerned, children are extremely precious!

No kids but a great idea.
Verizon cell phone offers it
Only 9.99 for the kid phone and .99 a month for the parent or chaperone phone.
That is well worth it.
Also you can see a map on your screen and it will pin point the location of your child.
Great to have peace of mind

No way!
Children are people not animals.
If you teach your kids about safety , stranger danger etc. and look after your kids properly , don't leave them alone whilst you go propping up the bar, the chances of anything happening are very slim.

Also as already pointed out these sickos who want to take kids will think nothing of just cutting these tracking implants out. It wouldn't stop them.

Let's just teach our children to use caution and think safety first. Remember that Early prevention is the first link in the Child & Infant Chain of Survival of the AHA.

I do not believe in lo-jacking children, if someone else does that's their business.
For that matter I don't believe in doing it to anyone, it goes against our freedoms, we have enough things tracking us on a daily basis as it is now.
