That prescription is so slight, I hesitate to even prescribe for it. There isn't much you can do to "maintain" that level of vision short of practicing good visual hygiene, i.e., take frequent breaks when reading or working at the computer. Unfortunately, if near-sightedness is in the cards for you, there's not much you can do.

It's not possible to answer your question with a yes or no. It depends on how you use your glasses/contact lenses. A nearsighted person has trouble seeing things that are distant, but has no trouble seeing things that are close to him/her. That means that you should use glasses only when you don't see things well and by doing so you will not worsen your eyesight. But every time you can see reasonably well you must not use glasses, because otherwise you would strain your eyes and that would cause your eyesight to get worse. Glasses are not a therapy and must be used only in those circumstances when they are really necessary. Never use glasses for close-up activities like reading, writing, computer, etc. If you can watch tv well enough without glasses, don't use them. Since you are just a bit shortsighted, you won't need glasses for home use. You will probably need them just when you go out ,drive, see a movie, etc. and in all these situations you won't risk to get worse.

You have a little trouble seeing clearly at a distance. This condition is largely caused by the shape of the eye ball, causing the image to be slightly out of focus when it contacts the retina. There isn't much you can do about the shape of your eye. But your condition is mild, and you can function normally.
