Well, it refers to what kind of weight are you talking about. If you have a huge weight but you're an athlete, then it's ok. That is why its normal for athletes to have a higher BMI than a normal person.
However, if you're talking about weight that is excess and unwanted, then the answer is a clear yes. That is because excess weight is clearly caused by the accumulation of fats and lipids in the body. As of how it is related to causing a heart attack, the heart has arteries that transports the blood throughout the body. When fat deposits line up at the walls of the arteries, basically they are narrowed, thus causing a disruption in the flow of blood. This in return forces the heart to pump the blood harder but you and I both know that everything has a limit. So, when the heart just can't take it anymore, it shows its "displeasure" in what we call a heart attack.

weight, no. Body mass, yes. If you gain weight, but not really show it, then you should be ok, as long as you dont weigh 300 or so, then you need to talk to a doc. But if you are really expanding (not to be mean), then yes, that does lead to heart-attack, all that extra fat and such leads to clogged arteries, which leads to heart failure.

Yes. For every pound over weight the heart has to pump an extra hundred miles a day.

Sure does, all that extra fat and flesh makes the heart work harder to pump the blood.
