Why would you ask this under vegetarian and vegan? Just to be tasteless, no pun intended. Why not sprinkle it on yourself and invite someone to take a bite and ask them?

loditx is right- consider where you post. baking soda [sodium bicarbonate] or washing soda [sodium carbonate] will not
tenderize meat...washing soda WILL remove tarnish from silver,though. A cheap tenderizer is pineapple juice...

No it doesn't and it gives the meat a funky taste as well.
