Do we have to earn our way there or do we just have to not wreck our chances.
Is it a case of winning promotion or avoiding relegation?

According to the Christian faith it has nothing to do with earning your way into heaven, rather it has to do with truely believing in God and that Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead. Then if one really believes this, their works will show it because they want to follow God and please Him. If one just says this and doesn't believe it their failure to do good will be a representation of their failure of faith on the inside.

You need to believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. You need to admit you are a sinner, repent (turn away from your sins), confess (tell Jesus about your sins in prayer), and ask forgiveness for them. Try to never do them again, and always ask forgiveness for them. Also you need to pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart and life and help you to become a true Child of GOD! If you truly believe this, and live like you believe it, and attend a Church that doesn't water down God's word, you will grow and find a family that loves you and will help you thru so many different ways. If unsure, ask any Pastor or Staff member of a Baptist Church, or Church of Christ, or Methodist Church and they will help you. Just be careful not to get into a cult!!! God Bless you for asking!

You do not earn your way into Heaven. The Bible teaches that we have to accept Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. We must believe that He died on the cross for our sins and He rose again on the third day. We must also confess our sins to Him. Through that alone will you make it to Heaven. John 3:16 - 17
"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. He did not send His Son into the world to condemn it but to save it through Him."

Only through the blood of Jesus can you enter into heaven.. Jesus said " I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can come to the father except by me.
You cannot earn your way to heaven, but certain steps must be taken to acheive heaven. First you must believe with your heart that Jesus died for your sins, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you will be saved.
This is the only way through forgivness of your sin to be able to enter in.

No one can jump that high! Jesus said that he is the only way to Heaven. Doing good is important as an act of worship but it doesn't earn us a trip to Heaven.

not sure what other religions believe but :
Christians believe the only way to Heaven is Thru Jesus Christ by accepting him as Lord & Savior, this comes by Grace nothing you can earn or buy..bible says;
"Not by works lest any man should boast"
once you get "saved" or "born again" bible says; "you become a new creation, behold all things pass away and all things become new"

Getting into heaven is as easy as pie...1 recognize you are a sinner 2 believe Jesus died for your sins 3 Ask Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior.

Well believeing in Jesus grants you eternal life, But you Still have to repent from your sins, and turn away from them,and that can be no easy task. So i'd say you have to earn that right

The Bible says salvation can't be earned...we all fall short of the Glory of God. God is the final judge. If we were to judge ourselves, we'd all live forever!
