I agree. But this is a theme in ALL categories lately, and becoming more common. I may end up leaving for good soon.

I agree and appreciate your plea, unfortunately I believe it will go unheeded. Many people either don't know that there's another more relevant category out there or don't know the difference. Recently someone asked why people were so mean
answering questions in "horse racing". My explanation was
that when a horse breaks down in a race the horse lover (as in a horse for a pet) will get very emotional about the status of the horse, whereas a horse bettor (where the horse is just a program number) who just lost $50 due to the incident,
may not be as sympathetic to the fate of the animal. It's not "meaness" it's just a different perspective. I directed this person to the other category.

Hello, Anthony- You are probably right, people who want to ask general horse related questions should go to the pets section and to the horses category. But it's likely that people don't know or don't realize that there is a separate category for non-racing horse lovers now. I put a question/reminder on here some months ago about this, and most of the people who regularly respond here still do so. This includes people like "barbaro" and hoyo2.99. Greyt mom is another regular in this column whom I haven't seen in the horses column. I myself still look at this column regularly- I enjoy the questions and answers I see most of the time. I don't believe that these people are necessarily wrong to ask their questions here, nor do I really think that it's right for you to criticize them. If YA decides that they really are in the wrong place, I would think that the askers would be notified of this. Otherwise, I would leave these people alone.

I don't ask questions (I only give answers), so I'm not the type of person that your question is directed to... but... as a fellow answerer, here's my opinion...
I'm actually more annoyed by these questions than the general horse questions. I don't care that some general horse questions end up here... and I'm happy to answer them if I know the answer. Some of those general questions are going to end up in the wrong place... there's nothing we can do to change that. Those people who ask general horse questions are NOT going to read this question first and realize their mistake and then do it properly. So not only do we have those general horse questions on this racing category, but we also have questions like yours that are trying to correct the problem, but are just adding to the problem by doubling the number of non-racing questions.

It can be an honest mistake, though. And honest mistakes happen to everyone sometime.

And who awarded you "Site Monitor" status?
