tofu isnt bad at all because some saturated fats is ok because if you are a vegan or vegeterian you need a little bit of saturated fats to make up for the lean protean in meats, but dont over do it on soy and tofu products save tofu and soy products for one meal a day prefrably dinner because soy is hard to digest if you eat it every meal of the day all the time.

you need the most of beans, greens and grains if you want to get the vitamins you need and take a supplement

Tofu contains high quality protein and iron. Tofu made with calcium based coagulants can be an excellent source of calcium. Tofu may also be fortified with B-vitamins, other vitamins, and minerals, just check the product label for the nutrient content. Important bio-active components, including isoflavones, found naturally in soybeans are being studied in relationship to relieving menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, maintaining healthy bones, and preventing prostate, colorectal, and breast cancers.

Tofu is a healthy, high-quality protein source that contains all essential amino acids for growth. Soyfoods are a good source of essential fatty acids and contain no cholesterol and LITTLE or NO SATURATED FAT.

In addition to the quality of soy protein, scientists have found that soy protein may help reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering blood cholesterol and increasing the flexibility of blood vessels. The FDA has approved a health claim stating that “25 grams of soy protein in a daily diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol can help reduce total and LDL cholesterol that is moderately high to high.”
All Vitasoy, Nasoya and Azumaya products are made from non-genetically engineered ingredients meaning, only naturally ocurring, wholesome foods!
And as another poster stated, saturated fat is not solely found in animal by-products. But Tofu either contains zero or very little saturated fat anyways! Therefore if the particular Tofu product you purchased states it contains saturated fat, you can be certain it is so minscule that it is nothing to be concerned about. And if that still concerns you, the next time you go shopping, read the labels. You'll be sure to find other brands that state they contain zero saturated fat. The brands I've purchased state that also.
There are so many health benefits that have been associated with Tofu, it wouldn't be in your best interest to stop eating it.

Saturated fats also come from things like palm kernal oil and nut oils. If you are eating vegetarian though, your risks of heart disease are so greatly lowered that eating a bit of cottonseed oil or macadamia oil isn't going to hurt. What tofu product are you getting? I'm curious because any soy bean oil left in the tofu is mostly unsaturated. Is the tofu fried?

Tofu isn't necessarily good for you...just like soy products. Alot of people think just bc it says soy, that it's good for you. Alot of organic products are fattning and not as healthy as we think.

As far as the Sat. fats from animals...good question
