Practically speaking, in burns wards I have not come across any phenomena in normal subjects, even in 3rd degree burn as stated by the the above respondents, but in females death due to Septicemia ensues, but after more than a week, because of gross negligence on part of visitors and next is lack of trained medical personals in Burns Unit.

Absolutely. Hot water would cause the blood vessels to dilate, which in turn would cause increase blood flow to the heart, which in turn would cause the heart to increase its pumping action, which in turn would cause the blood pressure to increase as the heart tries to distribute the increase blood flow to entire body.

Although the hot water would not have a lasting effect, because the body would cool itself rather quickly, and normal heart action would return.

Nope - the body would cool fairly quickly and there's more potential to a burn to the skin than anything to the heart.

it may cause your heart to race temporarily but the real danger would be to your skin. you could theoretically cause a heart attack if you had a very bad heart to begin with but that would be a one in a million kind of thing.
