Administration "More Determined Than Ever" To Pass Amnesty
Bush: "See You At The Bill Signing"
Bush and the Amnesty Senators are now preparing to bring the Bush-Kennedy Amnesty bill back for a vote immediately.
Yesterday, Commerce Secretary Gutierrez said the administration is “more determined than ever” to pass amnesty and Tony Snow added that the Senate “could wrap this up in two days.” Now, Bush has scheduled a meeting with Senate Republicans on Tuesday to plan strategy and Majority Leader Reid is saying he is ready to move the bill to a vote.
To add insult to injury, Bush then said of the bill: “I believe we can get it done,” Bush said of the immigration bill that has run into deep trouble on Capitol Hill. “I’ll see you at the bill signing.”
This is outrageous. Just last week, the American people soundly rejected Bush-Kennedy Amnesty.

The New York Times even featured Grassfire.org and three of our team members in a Page One lead story yesterday entitled “Grass Roots Roared”. Now, they are bringing amnesty back!

This is not simply a sound bite... It is a VERY SERIOUS issue right now.
Have YOU read the text of the bill yet?
Do you feel comfortable knowing that La Raza had a say in it, but we, the taxpayers did not?
And can you honestly call a mere $5000 fine sufficient in exchange for legal status?
What about all of the people around the world waiting to come to the US legally?
The fact that I used an article from a conservative source does not in any way diminish the GRAVITY and URGENCY of the amnesty bill.
And stop quibbling over the word "amnesty." Anybody with half a brain in their head can recognize that's what this bill amounts to!!

I'm pretty sure everybody knows about the amnesty bill, but there was so much talk the other day about how it had been defeated when it was only an amendment and then a cloture vote that I wanted everyone to be aware that this amnesty fat lady hasn't sung yet!

I think American citizens must remain vigilant about keeping this brokered failure from passing, and I think the only way to do that is to approach this as a non-partisan effort. Regardless of voting party or preference, those who object to this boondoggle must continue to call, fax and email their representatives.
Here are a couple sources that might be of use:

The President can promote the bill all he wants. He cannot pass it. I have been sending emails to Mr. Bush and to my elected representatives, urging them to drop the non-amnesty bill and concentrate on securing the borders. I note that all of the Republican candidates for President have gotten the message. Only Mr. McCain is supporting the bill. His poll numbers are dropping like a rock as a result.

I agree 100%. I have to believe the Republican Party and Independents-can defeat this attempt to give the US of A away! I voted for Bush; but this is the straw that broke the camel's back--even his own constituents don't back him!
He's going to ttry and muscle them today--but I believe he will fail. In fact, Bush will go down in HISTORY as ONE of the worst presidents the USA ever had! I think he cracked up--mentally--just like his pop who made horrible decsions and took even worse advice the last year of his term too. Like father like son, eh?
Any President that collaborates with ted kennedy--is an idiot! certifiabley! And McCain might as well just go back to Arizona and try and recover his senatorial status--'cause no one in his party will put him in the white house now. That goes for Hillarious and Broke back Obama.
I hope americans are getting their voices heard--as loudly as they have regarding the Iraq disaster?
I gave you a star!

Yeah, and we're being treated to boo hoo stories about farmers "needing workers" who stand to "lose" $9 billion if the amnesty isn't passed (how is not explained and never is), and charming op eds about how "amnesty is a myth". The corporate press and latino lobbies are pulling out all the stops.

Hey while Bush is at it do you think they'll get rid of the need for visas in the USA? And maybe stop doing actual checks for passports and just hit "print" for them.

Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? I guess this is what happens when we elect a "Conservative lite" president. He will do some things right, do some right things the wrong way and then some really dopey things.
We have got to keep the pressure on the lawmakers. I reiterate for those who may not have read this before"
NOTIFY YOUR PARTY THAT YOU WILL NOT MAKE ANY DONATIONS TO THE PARTY ITSELF. YOU WILL MAKE DONATIONS DIRECTLY TO THOSE CANDIDATES THAT OPPOSE THIS BILL AND DIRECTLY TO THOSE CANDIDATES THAT RUN AGAINST THOSE WHO SUPPORT THIS BILL.

Yes and I also saw that most who voted against it in the first place realize that Bush is temporary and they are up for reelection.
Something to think about....
Bush....here for 18 more months.....
Their jobs....which they need to get reelected for.....
We'll see what happens.
