Some languages are said particularly hard to learn
In Europe, Basque is known to be among the top five hardest
with Hungarian (17 declinations/6 in Russian/4 in German)
Finnish,Greek,Icelandic.
In North Africa Kabyle (a dialect of Berber) is considered much more difficult than Arabic.
In Asia, Chinese, Armenian or Thai are specially hard task to master!
Unfortunately my references and books are in French,so I'm afraid it doesn't help you as maybe you're not fluent in it!

I'd say reading Korean is relatively easy as Hangeul(or Hangul) is alphabetic. But I guess you're European or American, then it would be relatively difficult for you to learn Korean because of the different culture, grammar etc. According to the recent study of the US Government Accountability Office, Korean is categorized as a superhard language along with Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. BUT you know, when you like to do something, you just enjoy it! So if you're interested in learning Korean, you'll probably enjoy it and learn it quickly. And I think Korean is a very tasty language. One of my Vietnamese friends once told me that she thought the Korean language had a very beautiful sound, especially when she heard lovers speaking with each other. Of course, it's her opinion...At any rate, if you start to learn Korean, I hope you enjoy it! (BTW, I've never heard Korean speaking people saying chokilrit or teipoo rakoda or chaejoo/jahjoo. They usually say chokoret/chokollit, teipeu rekodeo/rekoduh and jaejeu when they say those words in Korean. Maybe the person who wrote about this thought the same with me but maybe just because of the different ways of the romanization of the Korean language....:-))

Chinese is the hardest language in the world and is the basis of Japanese and Korean. It was so complicated, they added alphabets to make it easier for the Europeans who "found" China. One alphabet wasn t enough, they added three. Like English one word may have multiple meanings, but they can have different pronunciations. There can be ten different words that all sound the same but look and mean nothing alike. To add to that, each region of china has a different dialect and pronounces things differently. They are basically different languages but most people can speak plain mandarin.

These days you can learn how to speak Arabic over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Arabic online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/arabic The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Arabic in just 3 months.
I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Arabic language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.

Chinese. Chinese is the hardest for many reasons. One, for the sheer fact that they had simplified the traditional Chinese language (Cantonese) to a easier version (Mandarin), and it is still very difficult. Second, Chinese does not actually have an alphabet. The Radicals ( fundememtal characters) repersent ideas in life. For example, the word hao in chinese consists of 2 radicals. One means female and the other means child. The character together means good. That is completley different from just combing letters to form words. Third, the chinese characters are very complicated to learn. You can even see in jaoanese that there are some complicated symbols now and then. Those are actually chinese symbols ( Japanese uses chinese characters). Fourth, the radicals are placed in specific spots. It s not like how in most languages you put the letters next to eachother to form the word. In chinese, you put the radicals in specific spots. Fitfth, there are tones. If you want to say a word you have to say it in a specific tone, or it can mean another word. Sim. Ch.-4-5 tones. T. 6-7

I honestly believe the hardest language to learn is the English language. I believe this because there are so many words in this particular language that are spelled the same but have totally different meanings.
