I had the same problems.
First off, there is no such thing as detoxifying. That is a myth perpetuated by the Church of Scientology and sketchy health food dealers. Your body does not store most things regarded as toxins. It actually breaks them down very quickly. If it didn't, almost all vegetables would be toxic.
What was wrong with me was that i wasn't getting any Vitamin D. That will cause headaches. When i started taking D supplements they went away.
The bowel movements are because you are getting more fiber. That is normal.
I feel ill when i smell meat, it does get gross after a while of being a vegetarian.

Well, when I first came a vegetarian about a year ago, it was because of an animal movie I saw. And thinking of eating meat makes me sick. When I first started, I was a little more hungry, and it took my body about 2 months to get used to not having meat. I used to smell meat and my stomach would hurt when my family would make it, now, I can smell it and I'm fine. If it keeps hurting, I would take Advil or Tylenol. Just make sure your getting enough protein. I would eat 5 small meals instead of 3 big ones. I usually carry 1 or 2 granola bars with me during the day incase I need one. Soymilk is also good. Hope this helps! :-D

You COULD be detoxifying. There are so many chemicals and bad things in meat.
Also, any time you adjust your diet your stomach has to
"get used" to the difference in textures, nutrients, etc.
Your problems will probably pass after a couple more months at the most, if you stick to it. Vegetarianism is perfectly healthy and there is no reason you HAVE to have meat. If you're unsure how balanced your diet is, consult a nutritionist (one that isn't biased against vegetarianism) and make sure you know what your body needs, how much, and the best plant sources to get it from.

That doesn’t sound healthy to me at all!! You have to make sure that your replacing all the nutrients lost, with nutrients from a vegetarian diet. Make sure your drinking plenty of water (might help with the head aches). Also make sure your getting enough iron. Read up on how to stay healthy. Try going to PETA.com and looking at their vegetarian 101 link. Make sure your eating more through out your day. Meat fills you up and is really hard to digest, whereas veggies go through your body a lot faster. Look up a vegetarian diet food pyramid, that really helps you see just how much of what you should be eating.

Well, I was a bit hungry at first when I became a veggie. Meat takes up a lot of room in the ole tummy. The sight of meat TOTALLY grosses me out as well.
Other than that, I didn't really have any of the other side effects that you have described. Are you eating enough food? Are you eating the right types of food? Just make sure that you are consuming a lot of fresh fruit, veggies, beans and legumes. You should be fine....remember - eat as many colors as possible!
Congrats on becoming a vegg!

Cheese pizza is great. Vegetarian chili (sans meat) is great. Vegetarian lasagna is awesome. Mashed potatoes with vegetable gravy...Tacos! Nachos. Something I love is a meatball sub without the meatballs- just the marinara sauce, cheese, mayo and hot peppers. I'm not great with the nutrition side of being vegetarian, but I do know what tastes good. :)

Are You getting a full balance of all the veggies and fruits.. and eating cereal, grains, wheat, seeds? If you are then you just might be eating too little. Also try some herbal teas too these will help you adjust to vegetarian eating!

No, not from my experience.
Unless of course the meat you were eating was particularly bad, maybe you are gettng rid of those toxins ?
I hope you are getting a full balance of fruit, nuts, veggies etc, and not just relying on that fake meat.
Once you get a decent balance, you will have no need for any supplements or special considerations, you'll feel very healthy and full of life
bet of luck, stick with it. i suggest your feelings are not related to the veggie diet.

Yes, detoxifying is one explanation. Our body requires time to adapt to the new diet. When I started I also felt hunger like what answerer 2 experienced, after that it went away. Be patient and see if it goes away after a while.
