A person can pretty much get any STD from oral sex. Of course some STDs are spread more than others and some STDs are pretty rare to be spread by oral sex.

The STD that is spread through oral sex more than any other STD is herpes. If a person has cold sores and gives another person oral sex it can cause the person receiving to develop genital herpes, and vice versa (genital area to the mouth).

Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 causes both cold sores and genital herpes. Cold sores are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2.

It's possible that you may have contracted herpes from any of the guys you gave oral sex to. You can always get tested for herpes; it's just a simple blood test. Also, cold sores are not considered a STD like genital herpes is. About 75 - 80% of the WORLD has them!

Good luck!

A strain of HPV (16 and 18) can be transmitted by men to women by oral sex and that it increases their chances of having oral cancer.

The important point here is that it increases their chances not that they're going to get oral cancer. Smoking increases your chance of getting oral cancer also. If you're smoking and giving oral sex I would think that would increase your chances even further.

But the report you're referring to is absolutely correct. Keep in mind that HPV can be spread by men without them ever having knowledge. It is also believe that more than 50% of the men in the United States actually has the virus and carry it. Other forms of HPV cause cervical cancer.

Any women that are thinking about becoming sexually and it should deftly get the HPV vaccine. Currently it protects against cervical cancer its called Gardasil … interestingly also protects against genital warts. HPV 16 and 18 cause 70% of all cervical cancers.

If I was a woman I would be standing in line to get this…. Seriously. There is one issue obviously that makes it difficult. The drug is FDA approved and recommended for women 9 to 26…. at first it seems like an awful strange age group. But as the vaccine manufacturer points out if you've already been sexually active with a lot of men you have probably come in contact with the virus already and the vaccine will not help then…. but then again it wouldn't hurt.

It is believed that men carry HPV without ever having knowledge of it. It's believed that they have no symptoms or issues….. however it may one day be proved that it is the root cause of prostate cancer. No HPV vaccine exist for men yet.

Please do not confuse HPV with HIV two totally different diseases.

But also keep in mind there probably thousands of ex-hookers….who have given oral to thousands of guys... then don't have throat cancer or anything else. If oral sex was so contagious with disease .....90% of us would be dead

If you have been tested for an STD, by way of a blood test, you will know if you have one. No matter what part of your body is infected, rather it be the mouth, vaginal area, or anal area.

you would have some signs and symptoms if you contracted an std over 10 years ago. herpes is possible, so is aids, gonorrhea, but dont worry, if you arent red and itchy or burny, you are fine.
