I breed chihuahuas and I have several tri colored mink/tan/white and on the white areas there are black spots that look meryl. Whould that be considered meryl markings, hidden meryl, or meryl at all?

I guess I didn't make myself clear enough. I know the colors that AKC accept and don't accept. My chihuahuas are CKC registered and I would like to see the colors not just the words. My chihuahuas have undertone colors (different colors on each hair) and I want to actually see all colors of chihuahuas as well as given the definition.

What I'm looking for is like a color grid for chihuahuas.
black...................picture of black chi
white....................picture of white chi
gold.....................picture of gold chi
splashed.............pictures of splashed
etc.
I would like to see all of the colors this way.

http://www.akc.org is a good place to start. Click on to the "Breeds" column and then scroll down the list of AKC Recognized Breeds In Alphabetical Order. In the Chihuahua section on the left you should see "Colors & Markings". Click on it to see all recognized Chihuahua colors and markings. They are NOT merles. The black spots would be on the mink/blue if your dogs were merles. What your babies have is black spoting. Merles are rare in the Chihuahua breed, but they do occationally occur. Remember this:
"Colors And Markings - All colors are acceptable -- Solid, Marked, or Spashed"
-- AKC Chihuahua Breed Standard
Good Luck!

On akc.org you can read the breed standard/colors for any dog. As a breeder you should be very knowledgable about your breed. It's important that you be up to date on all Chihuahua info! If I remember right, the Chihuahua comes in lots of different colors and different markings. But I'm no expert on Chihuahuas--I breed Bulldogs.

Don't put merle on the paprts or they may well be rejected. As was said above merle is not an accepted colour for Chihuahua's. Someone on one of my Chi groups had a whole litter rejected or so she said because she tried to regester them as blue merle.
It would be better just to put the 4 colours on their papers just to be on the safe side.
How i would love a merle Chi puppy. my breeder has never had one in almost 40 years though. Lucky you!

the AKC doesnt recognize the merle color yet, you will have to find the way around it, just put black spots, they dont have the merle option yet.
Any color-Solid, marked or splashed are the accepted colors of AKC

Why are you breeding dogs without knowing the official standards in advance?
Go here to find out what markings are accepted for chihuahuas: http://www.akc.org/breeds/chihuahua/
This site discusses specific colors such as merle, solid, etc. http://deeanna19.tripod.com/chihuahuacolors/
