Diabetes can lead to so many problems that you would be very unwise to miss out on an eye test that could save your sight in the future. In my experience the test is the same but how the test is carried out can vary considerably. I had one really bad test where, in th eend i told the optician to stop and walked out of the test- she was basically making me keep my eye open for longer than I was comfortable and even when my eyes were streaming she was trying to force them open. This is rare and so please don't be put off but i suggest if you find somewhere you are comfortable with the optician then use them each time.

Yes you should have your eyes checked. There's a condition called Diabetic Retinopathy which can affect the eyes of a patient who is diabetic and can eventually lead to blindness. I would talk to your eye doctor since the problem only started after the test. If you can't get answers from him/her, try a different doctor.
The link below is to information on Diabetic Retinopathy from the National Eye Institute - part of the National Institutes of Health.

yes. I have lost the sight in my left eye with Glaucoma. If I had an eye test earlier it could have been prevent. Diabetics are more prone to eye trouble then anyone else and needs to have check ups more regularly.

^ I would defiantly get my eyes checked, diabetes is nothing to play with, you could lose your eyesight if you don't take care of the problem soon. I don't know your age, but you may possibly have cataracts, with diabetes you could get cataracts at an earlier age than most, I know because I have cataracts in both eyes, the year before I was diagnosed with diabetes my eyes were fine, the next year cataracts, ( I truly hope not), but you could have something worse. Please go to your ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
Please check out the sites below they will give you more information. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I've had so much laser treatment I'm convinced that without it I'd have lost some, if not all, of my sight by now.
