Boy, a clean certificate from me, he is in perfect shape, seems to me that he is leading a well disciplined life.
Nothing to worry, tell him to stick to his routine.

Hi there. Your daddy needs a regular check up. Not because his heart rate is 54. If he exercises regularly with a normal blood pressure, he still is not free from the other risk factors for developing from atherosclerotic heart disease. Other factors which have to be considered are: his lipid profile, diabetes, smoking status. At his age, he needs a baseline check-up. Just like a car, he has to be sure that his engine is running well. Some athletic persons get blood pressure lower than 60/minute. And that is clinically insignificant if not accompanied with symptoms such as dizziness, or loss of consciousness.

If he is in excellent shape a slower heart rate is normal. For example world class tennis players can have a heart rate in the 30s or 40s.

Your dad may have a condition called Sinus Bradycardia.

Sinus bradicardia is condition wherein the heart rate is less than 60. It is relatively benign, and does not give any symptom to the person who has it. This condition is common in athletes, because their heart pumps more effectively than the normal population and does not need quantity (increased heart rate) to effectively distribute blood to the whole body.

Your father is in good shape! If he is otherwise feeling good, no symptoms of chest pain, sudden onset of dizziness or sudden drop of blood pressure, he's okay. And there is nothing to worry about.

Your dad sounds like a well conditioned person. Professional athletes who train a lot train their heart to tolerate the extra work and so because of their training their resting heart rate can be lower than what's considered normal (60-100 beats per minute) because their heart is conditioned to pump more effectively and effeciently.

Having your dad go to see a doctor for a regular check-up would still be a good idea as after 50 men's (and women's) chances of disease go up especially for certain types of cancers - colo-rectal being one of the biggest. If he hasn't had one his doctor should make sure that he has a colonoscopy done to check for early signs of cancer. He should also have a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level drawn to check for elevated levels - a possible sign of prostate cancer.

Regular check-ups are important for everyone, even the healthy, to make sure you stay that way. (the link is to the American Cancer Society about when and how often to do what tests for certain types of cancers)

heart rate is something that varies from person to person. While 54 is a little low...I don't think it's something you should be too concerned about, especially if his BP is normal. Lance Armstrongs resting heart rate is actually around 35....so compared to that, 54 isn't so bad!!!

If he is in great shape, then yes, that could be normal.

If heart conditions, of any type, run in your family, he is at the age to where some tests would not hurt him.

If heart problems are not in your family and BP, rate, rthym, amplitude, cholesterol are good, then you should have nothing to worry about.

First of all Satan doesn't have a heart. What does he need with one since he is immortal? A heart is to pump blood and spirits don't have blood. The thing you should be more concerned about is that God sent his Son to save you. Have you taken advantage of that matter or will you and Satan have this conversation at a later date?
