Yes you can still contract the virus from her. I haven't had an outbreak of genital herpes in over 2 years, but I was able to spread it to my boyfriend at the time (now fiance).

There are couples out there though who haven't spread the virus to the other partner. I was with one ex for almost 4 years and he never contracted the virus from me.

Nothing is 100% effective in preventing the spread of herpes, including the use of condoms. Just be careful, take precautions, and stay safe! Good luck!

I think you mean 'is herpes CONTAGIOUS'. Contiguous means all connected together, unending.

And YES!!! it is extremely contagious. Google it. You can catch it even if she doesn't think she is having an outbreak at the time. Did I mention HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS????

Looking at the answers here everyone seems to feel the same as far as catching it but did anyone go as far to say how honest his partner is and how hard it must have been for her to tell him.She cares a great deal for you. What ever you decide to do consult a doctor and discuss your options if you plan on getting intimate.

If she has not done something to fight this in herself then yes she is contagious to you...the commericals say there is no cure..but acidophillus is the cure...it is the beneficial bacteria that should be in milk...but pastureizing kills it...so go to a health food store that has nothing but organic foods and herbs...and get jarro-dopilllus and she should take at least four pills a day...
and sexual acitvity could stimulate an out break.....id' go for the cure before i'd go for her...buy help her out anyway she may be the one for you and the cure is just a cure away...and don't take my word for it ask at the health food store...does she get them on her lips....its the same thing....

As a healthcare provider, I can tell you, YES. She is most contagious during an active outbreak. But is contagious all the time. Condom is always necessary.

Yes, women get less symptoms than men do. If you're not careful, yes, you can still catch it.

Does she have HSV 1 or 2? Most people already have HSV 1 and you can't get reinfected once you have it. HSV 2 is bad news though.
