Every year when I get my bloodwork done, my cholesterol is always a little on the high side. My triglycerides are usually normal, and my HDL is usually high, but my LDL is usually also a little on the high side. This most recent time, my total was 225, my triglycerides was in the normal range (I forget the exact number), my HDL was 76, and my LDL was 134.

I know that my HDL is very good, but my LDL is higher than it should be. Is that something for me to worry about?

I'm not a Dr. Worry not so much, but I'd bet you DR would like to see your LDL around 70 or lower .

I all so was taking Lipitor for cholesterol, but then my doctor switched me to Caduet. A combination Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure medication, for several years. I have not experienced any more than normal short term memory loss. My long term memory is just find. Now because of financial and no medical I can not afford to take that medication. and still see no change. I have also heard on the news within the last month or so that the cholesterol medications do not give appreciably any major cholesterol lowering capabilities to warrant the taking of these drugs. And it is not a life or death situation. They feel it is just a ruse by the pharmaceutical company's to push these drugs on people in order to make themselves more money. Diet and exercise will do the same thing and better. And you can keep the money in your pocketbook.

Yes, cholesterol is one of the biggest warning signs for clotted arteries and heart disease. Your first line of defense is eating more balanced meals with less saturated fats (ie... deep fried foods), and a good exercise regimen. If you are doing that already then your body may just have a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol in which case you should see your doctor and they may have to prescribe you a cholesterol lowering drug. Good luck!

You are a little high. I would suggest eating some form of oat bran every day. I lowered my total chol from 248 to 195 by adding oat bran daily. I like oatmeal or granola bars or honey nut cheerios.
